A reply in this thread reminded me of one of mine: when someone is depicted as being really smart by having multiple PhDs. Nine times out of ten that would just be a red flag that they can't do independent research.

Can you think of a movie/ tv trope that is a wildly inaccurate representation of what they’re trying to depict? For me, it’s science stuff . They’ll show a scientist and say something like “ he has a ph. D in molecular biology “ and then have him solving physics or organic chemistry problems

The heat wave has now hit Leeds (though not nearly as bad as last time or as in the south), so I re-yoghurted the windows. First pic is when I applied the yoghurt yesterday evening and it was still drying. Second pic is how it looked this morning.

I was confused until I looked at the map & realised by world they meant “land” ie ppl. Which is fair enough usage but not how my brain works when discussing things like solar radiation Anyway this is a cool lil consequence of how much more land is in the N. Hemisphere and how damn big the Pacific is

We’re getting a nice line of storms that are cooling things off this morning, but this afternoon it’s still meant to get to 34C (93F)—very hot for Yorkshire; I wouldn’t be surprised if it breaks the June record. All I can conclude is that without the rain it would be more like high 30s or 40 😬
