Capitalism is interesting because looking for infinite growth from finite resources has an end game where consumers cannot afford to be consumers, and businesses cannot afford to be businesses.
Progressives or Democratic socialists should realize most of America is not only pretty centrist & *relatively* conservative, but are not necessarily philosophical or idealistic about politics? I see this blind spot a lot. Understanding it helps, like how to speak to those people re: affordability.
