just remembered the last line of You Can See Everything is "It's very complicated". I suppose the people trying to convince me Nathan wasn't actively trying to present Holmes as complex & ambiguous would say that was a random meaningless choice🙄 People who insist good media is flawless are obnoxious

eBay users! Don't ignore today's email, even though it looks like a boring standard update to the User Privacy Notice. They want to use your data to train AI models. If you click the link over the words "the right to object", it takes you to a page with a toggle button letting you opt out.

Screenshot from a section of eBay UK's r User Privacy Notice.
It reads:
AI model training

When training, testing, and improving generative AI models, we rely primarily on publicly available data. Some public datasets may incidentally include personal data, and in some cases we may also use certain user personal data, such as information about your use of our Services, including the items you list, sell, view, or buy, where we determine it is necessary and proportionate for a specific use (for example, to train AI models that improve product recommendations). Prior to training, we take steps to mitigate potential privacy impacts, such as de-identifying the data or applying other privacy-preserving techniques. In some jurisdictions, the data used for training as described in this section is not considered personal data; where our AI training does involve personal data as defined under applicable law, including in the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, the legal basis of our legitimate interest is set out in section 3.4.

See section 6 for more details on your rights. To learn more about specific training use cases and our processing of your personal data for generative AI training purposes, including the right to object to such processing for certain users, visit our Artificial Intelligence at eBay page.

The limit to what a corporation can donate to our daughter's account: none. Every corporation with business before the MN Legislature can now donate stocks...

It's funny that You Can See Everything could have presumably gotten a PG-13 rating just by cutting the one short scene with nudity that served zero purpose... except symbolism, I guess. I did not enjoy it, but I have to respect it.

I've been watching this dot com bubble docuseries and I JUST found out Mozilla is related to Netscape. All this time, I thought Netscape that been utterly crushed in the browser wars, burnt to ash and then scattered to the wind. Little did I know...

Huge special thanks to @bsky.app for partnering with me on the October 20 stream with @alexgibneyfilm.bsky.social! All of my ETTW livestreams are exclusive to the AT Protocol, for reasons that we will very much be discussing throughout the various conversations. Recordings will be available later.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

I know some people just want to cast the United States as ontologically, irreparably evil, but there's something to the idea of framing political movements through the lens of "we're just trying to live up to our stated ideals" *That* resonates with people broadly
