Great to see that National support 30 weeks Paid Parental Leave. Especially after they voted against the introduction of PPL. Blocked the extension to 26 weeks for several years. Canceled 33 pay equity claims. And just this year, cut Best Start payments for the majority of new parents.
Live your life so that when you pass, the world reacts like they did for Sam Neill.

They accept the invite but are unfamiliar with the artist so they say they’ll just wear earphones. Would you uninvite them or just deal with it?

I actually took time off this school holidays, so we came to Rotorua and rode the Whakarewarewa Forest Loop, which we've been meaning to do for yeeeears. Nearly-12yo did an awesome job, weather was perfect, and a rented e-bike meant I could actually do it. So fucking great.

I got Teams to record and transcribe an important meeting. The transcript is mostly not bad, but then right in the middle of our serious conversation it quotes someone as saying "I wanna poop" 😂😂💩
It’s all connected: public joy, public transport, public confidence, civic networks and resilience and optimism (plus the, y’know, economy, etc). The Mamdani effect is its own kinda of magic – but also, freely available to anyone/ any city/ any country that cares to join the dots on this stuff! 🌇❤️🎁

Only having politicians with personal or family wealth is objectively bad for democracy. Allowances to make sure people elected from all walks of life, no matter where you live, can be effective at their jobs isn't the issue. People with existing personal or family wealth taking the piss is.

Today, I managed to cycle all the way to Lower Hutt from my apartment in Newtown, Wellington. It's about 20km and I was able to use cycle lanes and/or shared paths for pretty much the whole way there! I didn't think I'd be able to do this in my lifetime, and I'm absolutely stoked.
The people who "won lotto" in Aotearoa are those with the privilege of intergenerational wealth (etc.) who bought property early and used it to get more wealth. Not through hard work, just an economy that was set up in their favour. And then they have the gall to pick on ppl in social housing. FFS.
