I am here to make posts. I am ABSOLUTELY NOT here to read posts.

Whenever a new generation of AI image creation comes out, it feels like it's all impossibly convincing and it's all over for real artists, and then two weeks later you can spot it at a glance and it's the most pathetic trash imaginable.

Saw my aging cat in the act of catching a mouse this morning and I was very impressed. I imagined mousing was difficult, because those little bastards can really scurry, but my guy was in control for the whole operation. Positioned himself perfectly to intercept and got his jaws on its tiny neck.

I saw some parents defending letting their kids play video games as much as they want by saying "in this house we believe in building hand-eye coordination"

It's pretty obvious to me that Linkedin's behavior in allowing users to report "slop" is that they think "slop" is specifically a word for AI spam and that most of the AI on there is fine. Occam's razor. No need to get conspiratorial.

(acting in American Psycho but I forgot my lines) wow... business card.... a perfect rectangle... white, with words on it... All the key information is on here Jared Leto: (also forgot his lines) Plus it has Dope Handfeel as well

I don't think I agree? The argument here is essentially "you're happy to tolerate these things that waste energy and water, therefore you ought to be fine with adding more things that waste energy and water." Adding more new wasteful things is not the same as keeping the existing ones.

www.nytimes.com/2026/07/25/o... This is a basic reading comprehension check: if you read this, he isn’t actually arguing that the environmental stuff is all BS, but that other similar harms are tolerated, and so it’s really a proxy fight for the role of AI in our lives, which should be taken head on

It doen't seem like anything in particular is filling the void of superhero movies' total dominance of pop culture. Maybe it's actually not inevitable or normal for only one very specific kind of expensive movie to get made.

thinking about a world where Scott Adams never got into politics but went totally insane anyway. just posting fucked up takes about micromanagement all day. he's still glad his step son died but it's because of cubicles or unix or something

(KOTH spoilers I guess) I liked that Hank was immediately supportive and sensitive and read up on menopause instead of being juvenile and needing to learn a lesson. Shows growth. Some of the many lessons he's learned over the years stuck.

My father in law was telling a story about how he used to listen to a band called Lucy Van Pelt when he lived in Japan, and I thought that could never happen here because the character is too well known, and then I remembered that one of our main rappers here in the US is named after Snoopy.

Everybody's rightfully pointing out that Ebenezer Scrooge's backstory is explored a lot in the original novella, but hasn't considered the obvious stupid move here: Dividing the source material into a trilogy like The Hobbit.

Tried to find a Moby Dick gif to respond to something on Teams at work and nothing came up, and I thought "oh yeah, because it has the word dick in it, that's fair" so I tried searching "Sperm Whale."

The sci-fi con episode of King of the Hill feels so weird for not really depicting any actual fandoms. I don't think I've seen a show stick to generics in a situation like this in a long time.

Everyone acts like you need to do homework for these, they're like "you won't know why this lady has illusion powers" or "you won't understand why this guy has trauma," and the answers are never interesting enough to really be better than going in blind.

Tom Hiddleston says MCU fans should watch ‘Loki' before watching 'Avengers: Doomsday' “I would always say, if you haven’t watched it, go and do so. And, if you have watched it before Doomsday, go and watch it again" (via @techradar)

Watched some of the new King of the Hill last night, very funny, I howled at the part where Hank is sitting with his miserable little foster dog, happily watching a baseball game where a groundout advances a runner to 2nd and dreamily says "See Caesar? That's called a productive out."
