I am absolutely not saying any specific person isn't poor. I am saying that, on the whole, a lot of people are misrepresenting their economic status online. This is clearly true if you know people. I have no idea who they are and wouldn't challenge any individual.

In Ottawa, the police chief had to make a 7-minute video telling officers to stop using databases and surveillance tools to look up women they found attractive out in the world. This is a major problem *everywhere* and one that has only gotten worse as police have gotten access to more technology.

Perhaps I’m slow but I had not really connected the manic, completely over the top GOP effort to claim massive fraud in our social benefit programs to Trump’s effort to claim fraud in our elections as a pretense for the GOP to refuse a peaceful transfer of power in January. It’s all one thing.

There are genuinely useful things that this tech can do and the reflexive belief that this is all inherently bad or has absolutely no use is one that is going to result in the unilateral disarmament of the left in technology spaces. It's a force multiplier when you know what you're doing.

the most hideous part of this story is that this man came in for chest pain, and the SECOND they thought he might be psychotic, they didn't bother checking out his heart. they 5150d him for a couple days instead. even if he HAD been delusional, this would be a SEVERE breach of medical ethics

Let’s be clear, because I see a lot of people glossing over this. These allegations are of domestic abuse and physical violence. You could get an order of protection based on these allegations. Domestic abuse isn’t about “hitting,” it’s about using violence and coercion to control your partner.
