I remember the refrigerated tractor trailers at my community hospital because the morgue was full. I remember my colleagues dying. I also remember the Trump administration hoarding PPE and sending it abroad.
I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

Amnesty's capitulation is unacceptable, because a human rights NGO is not simply a discount think tank (viz. a double discounted research university). It's part of its job description to specifically leverage its resources to stand its ground against actual and threatened SLAPPs from bad actors!

Every time someone claims you defamed them, the appropriate response if you're not lacking resources is to drag them, personally, into a ten year legal struggle for their innocence.
