One of my super random society ideas that this sort of reminded me of is it'd be cool if we had like community self hosting services, like a library that just like runs nextcloud instances so you don't have to use Google Drive. That'd be neat. In the meantime I guess find a local linuxy trans girl

and for the things that will make me sound like a linux elitist: you really need to stop trusting big companies/organizations with anything. this includes things like google drive/onedrive, photo backup services, etc. talk to your friends! one of them is probably nerdy enough to host things!*

I work at a very public-facing company that had an outage related to fraudulent orders. The sheer quantity of know-nothing dullards in the Reddit comments insisting it was "vibecoding" probably gave me a new hemmorrhoid.

Real idea: As part of the effort to get DC and PR statehood, next Dem president should invent about State Weeks. Each of the 52 states gets its own celebration week every year. A random July week is Montana week. Tourism bonanzas. Televised lottery every year for week placement. We ain't above this.

I don’t understand how people can run for office knowing they have insane baggage and/or crimes. Like I spent the entire campaign expecting AIPAC to somehow dig up my middle school livejournal fanfic account. I prepared my family for it. I’m still amazed it didn’t happen.
