Every aspect of the animation is handcrafted by real artists and I hope that people don’t use this slide as a reason to detract from how much love and labor went into the film.

The Pitch

All the wives that came before Lady Rhian are dead. Her new husband is older, thrice widowed, and a notorious merchant, and that's all she knows about him when he sweeps her off to his opulent castle in a remote village. When she arrives at his home, deep in the mountains and far from her family, she receives no welcome: the villagers view her with suspicion and her husband ignores her.
In her husband's house, she's drawn to remnants of his late wives. Their ghosts follow her, reminding her that she's a replacement. As she forces her way into the community, she uncovers its greatest secret: magic still exists there, even after it was drained from the rest of the world. And though Rhian can use the magic, it may be more of a curse than a gift.
Mages go missing, and those that are left give more of themselves to replenish the magic in the land before it's lost forever. Rhian's newfound power exhausts her, but she feels pressure to help the entrenched community even as it rejects her. Both fascinated by and jealous of her, her husband finally shows an interest in their marriage. When winter comes, blocking the roads with snow and cutting her off completely, she must balance her growing feelings for him with uncovering the dark truths behind his wealth, the missing Mages, and the ghosts that dog her every step.

After fleeing from his war-ravaged hometown, a timid boy enrolls in an elite knighthood academy while falling for the ghost haunting his rose-scented manor; but when enemy knights invade his cozy new town during a festival that allows the dead to live for a single night, he must learn how to rally his courage before the girl he loves is lost forever.

CHAPTER ONE
My ghost never hides in the shadows.
When the afternoon burns brightest, I’ll catch her silhouette in the sunshine. When night steals the sky I glimpse delicate blue eyes peeking out behind moonbeam curtains. It’s been five weeks since we've moved in, yet I've only ever found her in the light.
“She’s not your ghost,” reminds Olive. “I can see her, too!”
But my sister’s claim rattles out like a lie. Looking at her now, she’s scrunching her face up, squinting real tight, yet her eyes never seem to find the shimmering girl that runs through Rosefall Manor.

She would claim what she was owed. She would make every loathsome soul see the wages of their disdain. She would rip open the throat of this wretched world and watch paradise drown in its own blood.
Perhaps that, at least, would be enough.

“Behold, the most important room of the palace,” Tiferet announces, the fabric of her dress sparkling as she twirls in place. “Nowhere in Flaundrys will you find such a locus of staggering innovation and breathtaking beauty! The woman who resides here must surely be the envy of all Tron Daurat!”
Casimir glances, briefly, across the study, then rolls his eyes. “And that woman is you,” he drones.
Her arms drop, but a smirk still plays across her lips. “Oh, don’t spoil the fun.”

The death of an elf, once such a rare thing, still brings with it a small token of beauty. Perhaps it is one last unconscious act of creation performed just before the end, or perhaps it is merely the effect of the Ohr leaving their body. Whatever the cause, if the surroundings allow for it (even, at times, when they should not), a patch of mismatched flowers blooms at the site of their death.
Snowflakes fell in the town’s flower-choked streets, stark against the dark hues of dried blood and mangled remains, and Tiferet’s heart hardly stirred. It was a tragedy, yes; just like all the other tragedies that made up the last thirteen years.

The dark treeline behind the inn vomits a wave of horrors.
No two demons are anything alike. Some are hulking masses, some smaller than an elf. They crawl on teeth like fingers. They fly on feathers of skin. A tongue ends in a head, whose tongue ends in a head, whose tongue ends in a head. A face pockmarked with vacant holes stares at nothing. The tail of one wears the visage of a sleeping child.
And each is a vulgar, shrieking paroxysm of color.
