Councilmember Zachary Parker@cmzparker5.bsky.social · 7mo agoThe proposal now before Langdon neighbors for the Langdon Park Rec Center modernization does not meet their expectations and I believe we deserve better. The FY27 budget process is a chance to fight for additional funds so that DPR can deliver an amenity reflective of neighbors' feedback and needs.
We are being governed by the most corrupt, self-serving President this country has ever seen. DC has borne the brunt because we are not a state. The attempt to seize control of DC's public golf courses is another (small) example of how this harms regular people in DC and nationwide
This is good, but there should be triggers for the Office of Planning to apply for Map Amendments to the Zoning Commission to implement any FLUM changes, or they won’t do anything.

The numbers for the 9th street NW bike lanes suggest that we should be doing these projects everywhere we can. Crashes plummeted, pedestrian and bike traffic skyrocketed, and vehicle travel times dropped.
Insane but true fact: making US roads as safe as Canadian, Australian, or European roads would save more lives than eliminating murder from the US.
Last week, Dem @congressmin.bsky.social sided with Republicans to support the Trump takeover of DC. This is the wrong lesson to learn from recent Dem losses. Voters care about stances on everyday issues; performing moderation on issues they don’t care about doesn’t win elections

It’s fine to hold DC to a higher standard than the 50 US cities with higher crime rates. I do it all the time! I just also try to be serious about solutions. We need our judicial and prosecutorial vacancies filled.
On the Hill again, at the Hart Building talking to Senate offices asking our Democratic Senators to vote no on cloture and prevent the freezing of $1.1 billion in DC’s *local* budget. The current CR benefits no one, and would devastate the District.
Beautiful day for some YIMBYs to go recruiting pro-housing ANC commissioners in 5A. There are important projects in the pipeline in this area, and 3 ANC seats have no one representing them.
Don’t build trolleys with stopping distances longer than sensor range and a lot of problems go away.
I’m sorry, but I just think we should focus more on winning elections than whether our specific social media platform has been acquired by a recognizable billionaire yet.
My car randomly had a fully flat tire late at night last week, so I metroed home and dealt with it by train and bike the next morning. Bikes (and trains, and air pumps) make cars more feasible.
