20 years tomorrow since the last TOTP. One thing I didn't get when they moved it to BBC Two, they put it on at 7pm, Malcolm in the Middle at 7.35pm, and then Top Gear at 8pm. I always thought it would have been better having it on right before Top Gear, as you'd catch more people that way.

It's interesting reading this from 1999, that suggests UK Gold was poor when it launched because it couldn't show BBC programmes until they were at least 2 years old, and it had "finally got it right" because they could now show Only Fools and Men Behaving Badly www.independent.co.uk/arts-enterta...

25 years of The Office. Mixed feelings. Both the original and US series are great, and I’ve watched both multiple times. Mixed though because I never felt Gervais & Merchant followed it up well. And I’ve gone off Gervais since I sat through the pilot of Derek.

TV writers were right in 2023 and are being proven more right every day — there was a stable television model that made everyone lots of money and put out good shows. Then execs with no understanding of the industry confused the production model and the distribution model, and they blew it all up.

It's ridiculous that TV shows, movies, books etc still have DRM applied to them that can result in things like this... when Steve Jobs twenty years ago convinced the music industry to drop DRM from music purchases, I hoped he would lobby for TV shows/movies too, but alas.

This keeps happening with Sony and digital video purchases. There really need to be consumer protections against this kind of thing, or just an acceptance that if you don't own anything then piracy is morally justified if you lose your content this way.
