I haven't posted this one much since I painted it. I wanted to capture the feeling of the summer that this was painted in - here it was cool and rainy and I remember the hydrangeas were so full and alive. I wanted to try to recreate it so I could hold it forever.

Finished the final round of raw dog edits. Still have no idea what to do. All my favorite books were published by places that don't take submissions, or only do so through agents. You just can't get anything done in this world without a bunch of red tape.

Absolutely agree. It makes me question a person's entire relationship to art, that they'd even think to refer to something they made as an "OC".
Sen@dresdencodak.com · 2mo agoMaybe my most controversial take, but I don't like the term "OC" because it normalizes the idea that the default for artists is promoting commercial IP's. There's obviously nothing wrong with fan works, but the idea that it's the baseline is quite literally capitalist propaganda!
I just don't have the heart for the Social Media bloodsports. I see a bad post, I note the bad post in my brain, maybe I even concoct an argument about how bad it is in there - but then I move on. I ain't got that dog in me to jump in.

Hard to do the things you apparently need to do as an author when you're a weird recluse. I think I'll just have to rawdogg this final edit and hope some Publisher-Senpai notices me for my merits
