I'd also add to pick a genre you're going to want to work in for a long time, at least five to ten years. It's easy to get "typecast" and be sort of stuck in that lane. Even if you avoid this, a multibook deal means you'll be working in that genre for a while.

You gotta write, and you gotta write your own stuff, and you have to write stuff you'd want to read. Enjoy writing for its own sake and enjoy what you write, because if you don't, no one else will either.

So this week my entire family on my dad's side is getting together for the first time in probably 15 years, at least. Even my dad's ashes are going, care of my mother. But not me. Those aware/semi supportive of me being trans all said it would be best if I sit this one out.

Highly recommend finding your old cassettes or CDs and going analog for a little while. So many songs I had totally forgotten about that I found on birthday mixtapes and exs' mix CDs I borrowed indefinitely.
