The dry conditions meant there wasn't a huge amount in flower #bythesea at Dawlish Warren today, but there was lots of common restharrow and lovely to find the tiny flowers of what I think is lesser centaury #wildflowerhour @bsbibotany.bsky.social @wildflowerhour.bsky.social
Red Data Book Lagoon Snout cranefly Geranomyia bezzii. Dawlish Warren, Devon last night. 25 newly eclosed flies found amongst Salicornia. It has been suggested that this species has peaks of activity in the tidal cycle. With the full moon this evening this may be evidence of this. Thx Kev Rylands.

Even in the drought the dune slacks at Dawlish Warren were stunning. Hundreds of marsh helleborine and a gorgeous sea of loosestrife and meadowsweet. The chicory was from nearby. @bsbibotany.bsky.social @wildflowerhour.bsky.social @warrenbirding.bsky.social

Late results from 24th for #teammoth, with 470/105. Migrants included 50 Diamond-back, 30 Small Mottled Willow and a Rhyacionia pinivorana, one of four new species for the Warren inc nine Channel Islands Pug & Poplar Kitten. Local specialties included three White Colon. Pics Luke Harman.

Exciting tracking a Little Tern down the Devon coast today-in the estuary at Dawlish Warren at c830-then flew out to sea with 3 Sandwich Tern(Lee C) .Then seen off Hopes Nose at c930am with 2 Sandwich Tern(i must have missed one)! & then Finally off Berry Head at c1025am with 3 Sand T again (Mike L)

The first Alexanders Straw Aethes deaurana of the year on the wing this weekend. Worth checking stands of the food plant, especially in Devon & Dorset, for this rapidly increasing species. More widespread, Hemp-agrimony Case-bearer C. follicularis is one of the more easily found Coleophora #teammoth
