Oh marvellous. I noticed my kitchen/loo water was not running this morning and rang the Hausverwaltung to leave a message. It's 4 apartments including one with a baby. 9 hours later, I find out there's a leak in the cellar and they're turning the water off until the plumber comes *on Monday*.

Eliot Hodgkin is best known for his still life work in tempera, but before he got into his stride making these subjects, he painted scenes in London showing the devastation caused by air-raids during WW2 and the resulting wasteland. This work is entitled: 'Undergrowth.' (1941)

Woodcuts of the Madonna created c.midC20th at Netherne hospital by George Buday who was compelled to live there. Buday was a professional artist, writer & historian. Art therapist Edward Adamson set him up a studio in an derelict summerhouse on the hospital grounds with access to his carving tools
