Just re-joined Finch, since my husband is really into it. I am a hot mess, and hoping maybe it'll help me a bit. Anyhow! Friend code! Please add me if you are on there too. 😊 RPKN3ZFZFD

I'll stop talking about potatoes soon, I promise. They taste delicious! I roasted them with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. I made a large sheet tray and the pile doesn't even look touched. 🤣 Anyone wanna share their favourite potato recipe? 🤣

Roasted potatoes lined up on a rack.

I am still alive, technically. Just wish I wasn't. I have never felt this bad in my life. Like I have really and truly lost my mind. If you have tried to email or call me (or had an appointment with me) in the last week, I'm sorry. I've either been asleep, in hospital, or wishing I was asleep.

So, yeah. Things aren't great for me. Apparently I am not compatible with stimulants. Ended up in emerg last night with some cardiac nonsense. Sigh. So, back to the drawing board. Juuuust as I lose my GP. On a wait list for a new doc. Just gonna vibrate with anxiety until that happens. Whee.

Just got released from emerg. Long story for later on (sigh) but the important point is that no one at my house is answering the phone and therefore no one is coming to get me. Bus isn't for 2 hours. SIGH.

Also on the Cheetos thing, if any influencer says some variation of "you can't even pronounce these ingredients". Ask yourself can you pronounce gasoline, or lead? Your ability to pronounce things has zero correlation to their health benefits or detriments.

We took everything except appliances out of our garage yesterday. Cleaned everything. Sorted it and put it all back inside. We got about 3/4 through the sorting before it was too hot, so we still have work to do. I feel like I've been hit by a truck, whee. Getting old is a privilege but also OW.

*grumble grumble* stupid eastern time people not thinking of us stupid pacific time people when planning webinars. 8am is not an appropriate time to be learning about ecological restoration. *gulps tea like it's oxygen*

*looks at my beautifully written to do list for the day* Maybe I could just play video games instead? I mean.. the ADHD meds are making it easier every day to get stuff done, but also: I don't waaaaaaaaaanna.

Maybe now is a good time to discuss how MSG, monosodium glutamate, is actually partly responsible for the proliferation of the upscale taste we call "umami," and that anti-MSG pearl-clutching, none of whose health effects are borne out by scientific study, is really just weird anti-Asian sentiment.

I pulled so many slugs off my baby pole beans this morning. One plant is entirely gone. The other 7 are mostly fine. Going to replant a seed where the one is gone. Going to figure out a cloche situation today. They just need some help while they are still small. Sigh.

Our local conservation association is doing an excellent job of World Oceans Week this week. Every day at noon they are doing short webinars. Yesterday: QENTOL, YEN, the W̱SÁNEĆ Marine Guardians. They are working to protect Southern Resident Killer Whales in the Salish Sea. www.qentolyen.com

While photographing the owl from my back deck, a hummingbird buzzed my head. I had a zoom lens on so I didn't think I'd get a good photo of the hummer, but I tried anyhow. Not bad! What a cutie! Also, check out my plants. 😍

A hummingbird coming in towards a hummingbird feeder. On the fence railing, from left to right: basil, chives, parsley, 4 pepper plants, and cilantro.
