Doing this today! A great way to see out this particular trip around the sun. Bless Thunderdog on Byres Road for the early birthday cake- it was so sweet of them to do that 😁

A pamphlet which says

Brutal Glasgow trail A brutalist building on a busy street

It’s the BOAC building A print of a now demolished brutalist building A multi coloured doughnut with cream and a happy birthday sign and a candle

I was out and about very early this morning and stumbled across this incredible decal on a door in East Kilbride. The full text is in the alt Warning, it’s unhinged. I’m assuming this is Chat GPT dross. Imagine what the prompt must have been.

I am on holiday! I will try not to doom scroll through most of it. I will fail! There will be brutalist architecture trail schlepping. There will be lido swimming. There will be kayak kayaking. There will be film watching. There will be music touristy nonsense. There will be getting older

My top, nails and lipstick are crimson. I am wearing my ‘kick ass public speaker’ mask today. And I’m bloody good at it, but watch me slip out the side door the minute it’s over and run home. Isn’t it weird than we can grow in a direction that actively drains our energy. Trees would never!

Yayoi Kusama spent most of her life in a mental health facility in Japan. She said : "I fight pain, anxiety, and fear every day, and the only method I have found that relieved my illness is to keep creating art" She filled the world with beauty. Art is so important

That’s me inside a Yayoi Kusama installation at Tate Modern

Somebody please put Paul Simon and Paul McCartney in some kind of death-proof bunker. Thanks Also… FUCK! Tim Curry was amazing and I love him. And that’s just not ok.

Why do we say that someone ‘leads’ tributes to someone who has died? As if they’re the mourner in chief by dint of being most famous and everyone else is a lesser griever. It’s a weird thing to say.

my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. Dolly responded to it personally & paid for her top surgery. Sounds like an urban legend but it's real. I think we're going to more stories like this.

Aww, man. I’ve started work and I’ve got an email from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library letting us know that’s gone. It’s the most beautiful thing and now I’m crying again. Working with the Imagination Library for the last few years has been one of the highlights of my job.

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

“In Dallas for the premier of '9 to 5', I had an uncanny experience, and on the plane home to Chicago I confessed it to Siskel: I had been granted a private half hour with Dolly Parton, and as we spoke I was filled with a strange ethereal grace. This was not spiritual, nor was it sexual. It was healing and comforting. Gene listened and said, "Roger, I felt the exact same thing during my interview with her." We looked at each other. What did this mean? Neither one of us ever felt that feeling again. From time to time we would refer to it in wonder.”

I can confirm that this isn’t a rumor, since I’m on my high school’s band board this year — she’s donated to every public school music program in at least the Nashville area, and almost certainly the entire state. Her going royalty rate for schools performing her music is also $1.

If you are feeling like you want to DO something to honour Dolly and her exceptional life, you can donate to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Thanks to Dolly, tens of millions of children around the world received free books from birth until their 5th birthday. donate.imaginationlibrary.com

I have horrible white coat anxiety. I think half the reason I have it is because I’m very healthy and rarely need scary medical shenanigans or tomfoolery . Yeah, I have a flappy heart (benign), a bucketload of allergies (mostly just annoying) and stupid lungs (unlikely to kill me soon), but I’m ok.

Which witchy stitch should I add next to my ‘watching telly and need something to do with my hands’ current ADHD crafting obsession which I’ll ditch in approx. 3 months? Help me choose which of these designs to do next

Stick and stitch designs showing (clockwise from left) a moon with a face and clouds, a palmistry hand, tarot, moon phases
