These succulents have come to me at different times and have been living in different pots. Preparing for moving includes trying to reduce how much space various things need for the trip, so I arranged them together in one planter.

An arrangement of six different types of succulent plants together in one planter.

We were having an "each person in the house as a Batman character" discussion tonight, and... Me: I think I would want to be Poison Ivy. Sister-in-law: You ARE Poison Ivy!

I often think of Wendell Berry's great poem "The Peace of Wild Things," and I have a fruitful little quarrel with it: while his poem moves away from humanity for respite, I feel drawn toward us, despite everything, because of everything. I offer this little meditation to you.

Wild animals in my yard has been a thing this year. Deer, turtle, and now a family of turkeys coming through in the afternoons. I'm glad I get to see them before we leave.

An adult female turkey. There are a few teenage turkeys that aren't easy to see in the shade behind her.

BIG thanks to everyone who has ever posted tutorials of tuning a kalimba on the Internet! I knew a few notes needed tuning, but the hammer scared me. I wouldn't have tried without the tutorials. Everything is in tune again now!

A 17 note kalimba made of wood and blue resin so that the resin looks like water. There is a plastic figure of a humpback whale immersed in the water. A small skinny metal hammer is next to the kalimba.

If AI was truly inevitable and here to stay, it wouldn't be force into everything under the sun. It wouldnt require shady tactics to get AI training data It wouldn't be pushed so hard into everyone's lives

Tip for my adhders: Tell people you'll take care of something s∞n. Not soon - s∞n. That buys all the time you need. My adhders at home tell me this won't work, but they appreciate me looking out for them. But maybe it will work for you!

I have been thankful for my kalimba from the day I got it. I'm extra thankful during this moving process. Music is a form of prayer for me, and the kalimba is easily carried around.

Friends, Internet strangers... Y'all. When we get where we're going, it better be home for the rest of my life. I don't want to move again. My body can't handle how taxing this is.

This (The pronoun for God is God) came from me. It's not transphobic to refuse to use gendered--or human--pronouns for a being/existence that's not embodied. Maimonides calls it idolatry to ascribe human characteristics to Infinity; Cordovero says "all existence is God." More: (+ next skeet)

Once again @endblock.bsky.social encounters Jewish doctrine and just can't comprehend. G-d is not gendered. Paging @theradr.bsky.social

Screenshot of Marcy's tweet asking if my skeet that G-d's pronouns are G-d is transphobic

Things have been getting more difficult than we expected with moving. Not a complete surprise, but obstacles we had hoped wouldn't happen. We're working on it, though! Hope is not completely dead.
