Put differently, I am not persuaded to support permitting reform that is dictated by the 119th Congress’ shitty politics, ideas, and math that’s communicated to me by a dude working for a philanthropic toy (Arnold Ventures) paid for by a billionaire from the fossil fuel industry (John Arnold).

This latest podcast is a dime a dozen. I glean no new insight, no interest by permitting reform proponents to do anything but bulldoze over the full range of values I care about. Largely b/c the negotiations are designed to bulldoze those values to benefit corporate tech & energy interests.

So long as permitting reform is perceived 100% through the lens of tech & energy interests—where values, e.g., land & water, are sidelined—it’ll keep misperceiving the politics & misdiagnosing the challenges & opportunities of building a thriving economy on the backbone of green infrastructure.

But this formula is just a cudgel that hides harms: ☑️ Acquiescence to Tech/Energy oligarchs (incl. fossil fuels/data centers). ☑️ Political realignment btw/center & right (marginalizing the left & weakening opposition to authoritarianism) ☑️ Inward, narcissistic turn for humanity away from nature.
