7/ Carney's response is that Canada matched tariffs the US imposed first, and calls this a violation of the trade agreement between the two countries. Canada is a treaty ally with deeply integrated supply chains, not a competitor being brought to heel.

Hard to overstate how angry Canadians are at Trump over these ridiculous tariffs. The United States has emitted the most carbon pollution in world history. It has caused these climate-driven wildfires. Oh and American air pollution routinely drifts into Canada. What utter bullshit.

The reported assault on Imam Ebrahim Ali is appalling. No one should be targeted because of their faith, ethnicity, or appearance. Islamophobia and hate have no place in Victoria or Canada. My thoughts are with Imam Ebrahim and Victoria’s Muslim community as this incident is investigated.
