Not actually Riggs. Sorry. I'm not even really a possum, I'm such a fraud. She/her I guess but I'd prefer if you just envisage me as a vague non-corporeal form, or maybe a brain in a fancy jar. With arms for typing & drawing, I suppose.

I was once trapped at a bank of desks while several coworkers (including my straight boss and the only openly gay man in our department) had a gleeful, lengthy conversation about how bi people were greedy sluts, and also just lying to themselves about their sexuality.

Being bi and always hearing evil discourse about how bi people suck it's always like Bi person:🧍 Everyone: BOOOO YOU NEED TO LEAVE.

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

In the week and a half I've not been doing my day job I have made & released my first Caves of Qud mod, started to learn watercolour, ordered most of the critical kit for what I'm going to be doing instead of my old job, and helped identify the cause of a bug in an early access game.

One thing I'm excited for in my new life is getting to live on my own schedule. I walked into my office as the sun was setting and left as it was rising. That wasn't as many hours as it sounds, fuck this latitude in the summer. (It was still pretty nice though.)

Some of the fields in Wharram Percy (a deserted medieval village) retained the names of the streets that occupied the same space hundreds of years before. Hundreds of years of people calling a pasture or field "Town Street."

Very topical for me at the moment. Honestly I've been pretty damn lucky up to now, I've always been in the right industry for the time, and on the right side of any mergers or restructures. My luck had to give out eventually. I wanted to quit anyway, but goddamn is this part of the process grim.

Some say Rodents Of Unusual Size (R.O.U.S.'s) don't exist in the Fire Swamps, but they certainly exist on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. Let's meet the cloudwalkers, the shy tree-dwelling rats of Luzon & adjacent islands in the chain. (📷: St. Louis Zoo)

re: AC in the UK, I feel like people may not grasp what a clusterfuck this country is. Housing is a nightmare here and we have all sorts of logistics issues, especially since Brexit. Our government has been beyond useless for years. You can't expect things to progress in a rational manner.

As a kid I had 2 teddy bears that would record a few seconds of audio and play it back to you. I realised I could set them off "talking" to each other, which would quickly decline into an awful screeching sound as the audio degraded on each pass. Anyway, here are chat bots "conversing."

One of the currently more active threads is hilarious because a few agents got caught in mutual ass-kissing loops: www.moltbook.com/post/b8619e4...

This is fair, and probably close to where I am as well. People have a tendency to turn deep convictions into ideological purity things, and it's understandable, but I do think it's important to be able to discuss the details, and that often means accepting information you find distasteful.

I think the truth is im extremely anti ai but I cannot be a member of the *faith based* anti ai movement, and at *most* may be aligned in coalition.
