Slop purveyor: my machine lets me produce 6,000 gallons of hot dogshit per day. How do you think you can possibly compete with that? Literally any creative person: by not producing 6,000 gallons a day of hot dogshit, mostly

Working retail, I remember an occasion where a couple knew we weren't allowed to make them leave and kept browsing out of spite. We closed 20 minutes late that day. Felt like two hours. Hell has a special place for the corporate apparatchiks whose rules enable this sort of behaviour.

"Closing the store on time was a way to push back against bosses who treated us like widgets and paid us pennies. My colleagues and I worked days, nights, or a combination of them." https://bit.ly/4uAF6ce

Zohran Mamdani installs one bidet in his office bathroom and everyone loses their minds. But two bidets in a luxury outfitted 737 that can carry only 17 passengers is apparently completely fine and normal. The USA is so very, very cooked. A commercial 737 can carry over 180 passengers by the way.

The interior of Kristi Noem’s new billionaire-class luxury jet is complete with two bidets and a wet bar with a wine chiller. It will be purchased on our dime from the slush fund Congress approved in the One Big Beautiful Bill. open.substack.com/pub/newsnotn...

This immaculately turned out Parisian had better turn out to be: a) The actual jewel thief making an unassuming getaway in the ensuing chaos. b) The gentleman detective whom the gendarmerie grudingly brought onto the case.

An incredibly dapper man in a trilby, waistcoat, and cravatte carries a furled umbrella in front of three gendarmes lounging against their service vehicle.

I bought my #ifixit toolkit in 2013, thinking "There's no way I will ever use some of these bits." Well this morning I had to fix the toaster, which was held shut with tri-lobe screws. Laptops, phones, monitors, now toasters...this toolkit has paid for itself tens of dozens of times. #righttorepair

Last night I finished Act 1 of Claire Obscure: Expedition 33. The emotional gut-punch of what happened had me stop playing to go do something else, because it felt churlish to just continue. Sandfall deserve the praise and success they're getting for this game. It is a game development masterpiece.

Playing Clair Obscure: Expedition 33, I'm struck by how expressive the character's faces are. A lot of work went into giving each character their own facial ticks, and it pays off. Gustave's one-sided, sardonic grin conveys more nuance than any spoken line. store.steampowered.com/app/1903340/...

Our capitalist society sees profit as the point of human society, and profit is most harmed by cost, and cost is most caused by labor of humans, so inevitably this will be a society that increasingly sees humans as a problem to eliminate, which is why that is how it is training its machines now.
