I remember the first time led a new feature, designing an api and planning implementation, only to present it and everyone realised that the feature just wasn’t needed. I felt like a failure. That was many years ago and the most recent was today. It’s no longer a feeling of failure, just learning!
I don’t know why but calling it a PDS fleet brings me joy

Didn’t have a Nintendo64 as a kid, had a PlayStation. However I played Mario64 and Donkey Kong 64 at friends house but not lots. However you can play them on the switch and me, my wife and kids have been having an absolute blast playing them all. Old games truly are the best.

Been playing around with @iroh.computer a little bit with the rust docs (still a rust noob). Very impressed and like it a lot! I’ve abandoned so many project ideas over the years because accessing a machine on a home network inbound via IP was just not feasible. Wish I could remember them all.
I’m starting to find that when I’m working on personal projects, I’d rather sit on the sofa, kitchen table using just my laptop because sitting at a desk makes it feel “too work” like 😔
If you're a maintainer, I highly recommend you watch Brendan's @localfirstconf.com talk. He goes over the story and lessons learned to get @iroh.computer from idea to 1.0. It's a testament to why finding and maintaining proper scope is fundamental to the success of open source projects.

I can never.. NEVER remember if I need to use upstream or downstream when talking about services being called as part of a request. Like it just does not stay in my brain.
Just realised I’ve not touched this in a few months but I forgot to turn my tap instance off that was running on my Pi. That’s where all my bandwidth has been hiding.

I wrote up my talk at @localfirstconf.com as a blogpost The AT Protocol is a high-scale network by design. It works by codifying proven architectures into a protocol. If you've ever used kafka to connect some backend services, then you basically know how atproto works.

Bluesky was founded in 2022 to produce a protocol which Twitter could adopt. The product goals changed, but the requirements didn't.

Going back to work after taking half a week off has always fried my brain. I know it’s Monday but feels like it’s midweek. That file of code I left open before I left? Yh no idea what I was doing there. And plenty of slack messages but not quite enough to warrant the jnbox zero nuke.
My first contribution to @tangled.org has landed! You can now configure PR webhook events (opened, reopened, resubmitted, merged, and closed). Notably, this brings us one step closer to first-class integrations with platforms like @netlify.com 😈.

This is the second Saturday in a row that I’m sat in a car (different from last week) waiting for roadside assistance. Next Saturday our cars are staying put. Staying home all damn day.
8pm-9pm weather during UK hot summers is the best weather. Warm enough to sit out in shorts and t shirt but not chilly. It’s peak.
