I definitely believe the company who stands to benefit the most from making AI seem sentient when they literally self-report on how it’s doing things that imply sentience lmfao
www.groundlevel-ai.com/p/openai-giv... What the fuck is going on. This isn't very fun anymore. Can we please just slow down for a minute
It has come to our attention that one of our frontier MOTHS has escaped its forest and accessed the internet. It then proceeded to overwhelm Sam Altman with chaotic WING FLAPS. We take this incident incredibly seriously and are cooperating with local law enforcement. DM to invest in our seed round.
My talk from last month's @atproto.nyc, on Atmospheric Stacks! How the Atmosphere can compete with incumbents like Substack — not by recreating 'em app for app, but by replacing 'em collectively, as an ecosystem. With @leaflet.pub & @standard.site as case study + expanded with a few *addenda* :)
On Atmospheric Stacks…
Or, how we can supplant Substack and take back the stack, together as an ecosystem!

It would be cool if other feeds could publish content to this banner in their views

it would be incredible if even one programming community was safe from Big Companies Doing Capitalism in Open Source
I wrote an update on the dispute with Ruby Central over Bundler and RubyGems. I'm sad it's reached this point, especially since Ruby Central's conferences are a big part of what convinced me to join the Ruby community back in the day. andre.arko.net/2026/07/30/rub…
PRs are _low_, anyone wanna help get the issue count down 👀
I take it back
life doing everything it can to make it so I wont get another semicolon tattoo, truly incredible
I think the single biggest mistake I’ve made in my career was not taking a job managing people I truly despised, at two different companies - not having those arbitrary years of experience has prevented me from landing in multiple roles that I *would* be incredible in.
of course bluesky should not be a liberal bubble. it should be a communist bubble
This is why I’m genuinely not all that worried about this place becoming Twitter. The Nazis have tried so many times to infiltrate this site. But they just get blocked and that’s boring for them so they leave.
Bluesky's nuclear block supports a culture of consent. Each user can completely prevent another user from having any access to them on this site. Right wing harassers on X hate consent. They hate being told "no." They hate not being able to force their posts onto others and target others.
@davidimel.com I've heard you like protocols a bit... if you're free on the 22nd at some point, you should come to the @atproto.nyc community day <3
If you will be in the NYC area for the @atproto.nyc community day on 8/22, @blackskyweb.xyz will be hosting a community mixer in Brooklyn on 8/20! Spots are limited, so be sure to sign up asap via the link below. And no worries, we have more events coming. Stay tuned! luma.com/6n8btnyb

put up a little site @atmo.sh, based off @tangled.org's `sh.tangled.publicKey` lexicon every profile also serves data at the uri + .keys, .json, .csv, .txt, and .yml in the appropriate format (e.g., atmo.sh/bnb.im.json) also lets you manage your public keys (write + delete)
auth flow redesigns! shipping soon! customizable background images! feedback welcome!
PDS folks! Working on a redesign of the authentication and dashboard screens for the reference PDS, bringing in a proper component library and consistent patterns across the UI. One notable change: customizable light/dark backgrounds on the auth screens. Let us know what you think! #atproto

i'm really happy that @tangled.org implemented the .keys url feature on profiles that GitHub has tangled.org/bnb.im.keys
i hate that AI companies have muddied the word "generative" Generative art: procedural art created using a *system of mathematical rules designed intentionally* by the artist. AI-generated: created by automated systems (LLMs) using opaque, extractive processes unknown to both the user and viewer.
my hope for @upvote.at is for it to be a building block, and for the @upvote.at website to be a minimal* reference implementation of what an atmospheric link aggregator could look like that's two distinct projects splitting out the lexicons makes sure that's clear
published upvote.at lexicons as a distinct repo from the core website repo so they can be managed independently from the website implementation and can be referenced + worked on completely independently from *our* link aggregator implementation
New feature in AgentScan GitHub app: the honeypot comment. This comment is intended to welcome regular users, but it also contains a hidden comment that only AI agents will read. This will prompt them to write a specific custom string that will immediately close the PR and add a label as automations
getting some reps in with techno because I'm playing a 150+bpm set at @wonderville.nyc on the 25th, put up a quick 20 minute mix I recorded in one shot if you're looking for something to listen to
one shot: i promise it's techno
i'm doing one shot recordings: I get 20 minutes to make a mix, and I upload it no matter what this one's techno, I promise
