'This place is unrecognizably bad. It’s a new badness that requires new naming, new maps, new solutions, and new radicalisms. It’s a new badness that requires new relentlessness, born from people brave enough to sit with themselves and attempt to unleash something never seen before.'

I went to the Netherlands and visited Leiden, where the Pilgrims first departed on the Speedwell. For @prismreports.org, I reflected on the U.S. semiquincentennial in a personal essay about letting go of the national myth of what the U.S. is and what it could be. prismreports.org/2026/07/23/e...

I have chewing on this mentally for the past 12 hours and sharing to friends. "Leaving is not the same thing as letting go" is a deeply profound sentiment and matters materially and spiritually no matter where you are, where you came from, or where you are going.

For the first time, we are asking YOU to protect us. As our readers, you know how critical it is to have a media ecosystem that reveals how state power is exercised, enforced & resisted. This summer, we need to raise $25,000 to get fascism’s boot off our necks. Donate here⤵️

Bending to this climate, the philanthropic support that Prism has depended on is quietly shifting away from prioritizing BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ communities, disabled people, workers, the poor & the fight for Palestinian liberation. This hits Prism hard because this is what we will never compromise on.

🚨EMERGENCY FUNDRAISER: Fascism has its boot on Prism’s neck🚨 Not only is fascism killing our kin & funneling our tax dollars toward genocide, it is targeting a free press that tells truth against power. Prism has lost half a million dollars in funding. We need your help to keep our newsroom alive.

As a direct descendent of William Bradford, I accept this reckoning, and am calling in any ancestors who are ready to face it with us. We have to burn our attachment to this death machine that is killing everything.

Over the years, many of us have had the privilege of hearing Ashanti Alston speak on Black anarchism, political prisoners, Zapatismo, and lessons from organizing. With the help of @williamcson.bsky.social we've compiled his writings, speeches, and interviews into a volume we can all learn from.
