We all saw the images of full ICUs and temporary morgues setup in refrigerator trucks. We lost HUNDREDS of Jesuits to COVID and watched helplessly as it ran through our infirmaries. ... We're at that stage in a cult where the follows MUST believe the lies because NOT believing gets you canned.
I am so triggered by RJK Jr's comment about ICU's being empty during #COVID. I re-read what I wrote after one of the surges. How do others forget. The trauma was--and is--real.
Dieticians feeding fascists All of them with unwashed asses Evil minds that plot destruction With the East Wing in construction
RAY: Beef! Check out my dude Long Herman! He’s in the Guinness for his length! ROAST BEEF: See I would say something such as “height” because “length” makes it sound as if homeboy is hanging it horse style RAY: Player got a connective tissue disorder! Scientists disagree on its hog ramifications!
Can’t think about this movie without thinking of this wonderful bit of movie magic, which takes one minute with one camera, but tells the Valiants’ backstory, moves hours forward from night to day, and Eddie sheds his jacket and consumes a bottle of alcohol. Start at 0:40. youtu.be/QLdhPptOu7c

Guys will listen to male influencer bullshit about needing to have a six pack and manipulate everyone and meanwhile women will go “you know who is the sexiest fucking guy I’ve ever seen?” and post this
Morton Salt Girl is a merry fellow; Bright blue her label is and her shoes are yellow
Bet you didn't know that the Little Morton Salt Girl is an immortal being who existed before there was life on Earth.
Wiping away a single tear: Some mother fuckers always trying to ice skate up hill
Because he's the hero Seattle deserves, but not the one it needs right now. A watchful raccoon. A confused protector. A Jimothy.
Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.
Even on their way out, knowing that they won't be Senators in January, they still won't do the right thing. Effing cults.
John Cornyn & Thom Tillis issue a joint statement announcing they will support Todd Blanche for AG. He's now in good position to clear the Judiciary Committee tomorrow and head to the full Senate.
I would definitely get lost and perish in this
I completely missed this. As part of Trump’s planned rebuild of Dulles (because playing with his toys is basically all he wants to do these days) he says he wants to build a parking garage that would be 60% larger than the current largest parking *lot* in the world?
I can’t think of many better statements for a (complimentary) or (derogatory) parenthetical
I have just been sent the transcript of a deposition my grandmother gave in 1977 while she was serving as an expert witness in a series of tribal rights cases and let me tell you, if nothing else this is proof that I come by it honest for every conceivable value of “it”
There's literally an archive you can look up strips peanuts-search.com
Charles Schulz drew a new Peanuts comic every single day for almost 50 years. That is 17,897 individual comic strips. I'm sure, somewhere in that vast archive, you can find an ACTUAL DRAWING that fits whatever you want to say and easily edit in your own speech bubbles instead of using "AI" slop.
The WNBA has never had a trans woman play in the league’s 30-year history and now the right and other anti-trans activists are hammering the league over something that has never been an issue, proving once again it isn’t about protection but exhibiting cruelty toward trans people.
I wrote about how the late Vincent Pastore was so good, David Chase abandoned his original plan for Big Pussy to disappear for good at the end of The Sopranos' first season:
Vincent Pastore was too good for 'The Sopranos' to forget about

I first got 1000+ pages of court documents from Miller & Moreno's custody case. Anybody can request these from Cuyahoga County. I reviewed those by myself, one by one—no AI involved!—and the filings pointed to police reports. I then sought those out separately and spent days combing through them.
“He invented the Fuse Box Dwarf, a little man who popped out at you from behind the paint cans in the cellarway and screamed, "Dreeb! Dreeb! I am the Fuse Box Dwarf!" Lewis was not scared by the little man, and he felt that those who scream "Dreeb" are more to be pitied than censured.”

Shari Lewis was incredible and even if you know how good she was this is mind blowing
Holy cow, Shari and Lambchop singing “I’ve Been Everywhere” is one of the best ventriloquist performances I’ve ever seen. youtu.be/9omuZbYL_aU?...
There was an incredible thread here on JUNE 19 diagnosing the problem with the reflecting pool. June 19!!
I like this part where the U.S. Attorney's Office pretends that they didn't watch the news for an entire month and so "first became aware" that the reflecting pool was all fucked up on July 17—over a month after it started visibly falling apart.
Ladies and gentlemen... the weekend. (also: you are important and are not alone 🧡)
Are you saying the DOJ withdrew that pool vandalism indictment… upon reflection?

I've written a longer piece on the book that's been pulled due to "AI" use allegations, what that means particularly for newer authors, and what, if anything writers can do in the "AI" era to prove their work is their own: whatever.scalzi.com/2026/07/31/a...
Another Reason Not to Use “AI” For Your Writing
Back in February I did a long post about “AI” and why I wouldn’t use it for my own writing, and one of the reasons I gave was “the fact that ‘AI’-generated text …
