If we go to a restaurant, feel free to photograph my food, I’m fine with that, but ALWAYS consult me before posting on social media, PLEASE respect my my tagliatelle’s privacy

I know that I'm getting old because I'm increasingly finding that the clothes in places like Zara, H&M and River Island are absolutely preposterous whereas the stuff in M&S is pretty cool.

Dance By Nature: reality show where Alien 3 star and veteran actor Charles Dance is taught various dance routines by former Strictly contestants while surrounded by some of nature’s deadliest predators. RTÉ, hit me up, I’m full of gems like this

Dream report: Taking a train north up the coast with an old friend. We end up changing at Howth, but there are signs saying “prepare for a hazardous journey” and then what look like bumper cars linked together appear on the track and each tiny seat has a little fake steering wheel in front of it

Rewatched the Watchmen series recently and it's so good it almost makes me forgive Damon Lindelof for Prometheus. But sadly that was a crime for which no law exists and he is therefore beyond redemption

Specific and vivid memory: graffiti on wall of stairwell in Dunnes Stores, Stephens Green Centre, ca 1993 - “Give us dem hairy arms on dem checkout girls” Almost Joycean in its profundity. As true today as when it was written #SpéirGorm

Still thinking about this today for @pftompkins.bsky.social ‘s excellent interpretation of an Englishman doing an Irish accent,a different Englishman doing an American accent,Andy Daly’s valiant attempt at Geldof, and @scottaukerman.bsky.social ‘s Irish accent which landed just short of a hate crime

Scott Aukerman, Fred Armisen and Andy Daly listening intently to Paul F Tompkins pose a deadly serious and worthwhile question as Lord/Baron Andrew Lloyd Webber on stage in Vicar Street, Dublin
