Happy day that Claude Fable would have been removed from the subscription plans, for those that celebrate.

ok so it's 8 months later and between gemma4/qwen3.6/deepseek4 i'm pretty sure we've reached this, to a large extent i can run the dense gemma 4 on my laptop and it's basically Gemini 2.5 pro in my lap, isn't this insane?
feeling like the coolest thing that could happen to the modern AI landscape is being able to at least run models with capabilities on the level of Opus 4.1/Gemini 2.5 Pro/etc locally on consumer hardware and at best - being able to actually train/fine-tune them on that hardware as well

Can LLMs Use Real-World Tools? Mercury-2, ELO, and the Umwelten Setup
We ran 39 models against real Rivian driving data via MCP tools. Inception's Mercury-2 delivered a perfect 15/15 in 8.6 seconds. Here's the standout model, the ELO narrative rankings, and how the same...

One great use of these models is to ask them to compare the points made in the stochastic parrots' paper and compare it with Wittgenstein' "On Certainty", and then dig into anecdotes why he flipped the script to think that playing "language games" are required to effective have interiority.
If one sees no beneficial use cases for synthetic text then their eyes are simply sewn shut, and thus this person is safely ignored.
Big drop last night! Down 2.2kg -- water, stress, something like that. The body seems to have learned a lot from the last time and is freaking out much less. Everything feels way more relaxed.
Day 4 of 11 — Ketosis Established 89.8 kg (-3.5 kg total) Sleep bounced back to 6.2 hrs after yesterday's brutal 3.6 hr norepinephrine night. Hunger fading as ghrelin suppresses. Autophagy ramping up. vs Cycle 1 Day 4: • Overnight loss: -1.1 vs -0.4 kg #fasting #waterfasting #autophagy #oura
We are at it again! Down 5.7kg (though it was a wild funeral/celebration of life where rules got thrown out the window for a few days right before starting) and it's much easier mentally the third time around. The body learns so much, which is getting me thinking that its body learning not mind
Nice golden age you've got here... would be a shame if the historically-rare period of peace led you to distress when history returns to its turbulent norm
A report from this retreat is now available. It's a good, thoughtful summary of how AI is changing software engineering. It avoids breathless hype, but it doesn't bury the head in the sand either. www.thoughtworks.com/content/dam/...

Spent the last few days at a retreat on the future of software development, convened by @thoughtworks.com and @martinfowler.com. Excellent conversations and plenty of food for thought www.thoughtworks.com/en-us/about-...

6 Commands Replace 10+ Hours/Week: Building an AI-Powered Back Office
A complete back office system — project tracking, hiring pipeline, invoicing, client communication, sales CRM — running on Claude Code commands and markdown files. No databases. No SaaS subscriptions....

Talking to lots of folks across various professions using Claude Code, it is genuinely surprising, even to me, how much of a leap they have seen in the ability of LLMs to do real work in the last six weeks. I know people on this site are sometimes skeptical of AI, but worth paying attention to.
I've got a whole series of how Claude code isnt really about code... thefocus.ai/posts/claude...
Claude Code, not Code
The real power of Claude Code isn't writing software—it's orchestrating skills for research, newsletters, browser automation, and turning one-off requests into repeatable workflows.

Spending more time with Claude Code tonight and I do think one basic reality is that AI skeptics need to update their priors: Plenty of cause for concern, plenty of room to hit these companies for unethical behavior, resource demands, etc, but we are so, so far past the era of "stochastic parrots"
Donor cycles: a great service that motorcycle enthusiasts provide to society is a steady supply of healthy organs
Database schemas are technical debt from day one. My "database" is a folder of markdown files. When the structure needs to change, Claude just... changes it. No migrations. No API versioning. "But that doesn't scale!" It scales to exactly what I need. thefocus.ai/posts/data-f...
The Data Flywheel Pattern
Build applications by dropping in data and letting AI handle parsing, structuring, and synthesis. Three case studies.

Today is the day when I start eating more like a normal person. Very exciting!
Getting close to real food -- very exciting and my hunger is starting to return
Sorry, Not Sorry — how I use Claude Code for not-code tasks. In the past I would either a) not do it, b) do it manually and poorly, or c) write an annoying little script. Now I just describe what I want. thefocus.ai/posts/claude...

Day 11, a little over 250 hours without eating. Starting the day with a huge glass of water I recommend for everyone. If you are fasting, make sure that it's got salt and potassium in it. Try to get 2-3 hours of exercise each day, fasting or no. The energy systems need a little stress.

Day 10 update on fasting -- didn't get enough exercise yesterday, but I'm in the nirvana state of full ketosis which I recommend for everyone. Went to a party last night, was a little difficult not eating and not drinking since it's not party like, but was so glad to walk out the door sober.
I've happily paid for tailwind in the past, but its true that I only found it through the docs where I had a specific problem I was working on. Now the LLMs just make it happen.
wild. Tailwind Labs revenue is down 80% due to LLMs making docs site visits unnecessary (and, I would add, making the HTML templates they were selling a lot less useful) github.com/tailwindlabs...
