One thing I like about FMV games... Many visual novels and interactive fiction games are overwritten and packed with excess description and dialogue because words are (sort of) free to add. But producing video takes more people, time, and money, so FMV games are often much more compact.
There are so many FMV games on PC now. We all thought the golden age of FMV games was the CD-ROM era, but actually, it's right now.
This bundle just beat it's first $100,000 goal! Nice work! My fav game so far is NEUROCRACY where you solve a murder by combing a futuristic version of Wikipedia. pyrofoux.itch.io/neurocracy

Fun Zone Omega, the mutant-filled post-apocalyptic #RPGMaker game, is in this bundle supporting game devs who have been laid off this year. Now you have a morally upstanding reason to play Fun Zone Omega... instead of the regular reason (i.e. you like mutants).

I wrote something like 100K words of weird underworld content for this gorgeously illustrated "tactical narrative" game from the creator of King of Dragon Pass, and that's only a fraction of the content... definitely worth a wishlist.
We're taking a trip to hell, but some of us won't make it back... Gather your party and join us when Thousand Hells: The Underworld Heists by @radiofreelunch.bsky.social releases on September 8th 😈 store.steampowered.com/app/3794210/...

In 1984, Tsukuda Hobby released Roads to Lord. As one of the first original Japanese TTRPGs, Roads to Lord paved the way for the expansion of role-playing culture in Japan. I discuss the context surrounding the game’s release, its systems, and history: ogrerun.com/2026/07/26/r...

The box art for this is beyond legendary. One of the few times that the English-language box art is WAY BETTER than the Japanese art. It's NEVER been done better.
Revengers of Vengeance (1994) was a fighting game with RPG elements for the Sega CD by Micronet. This fantasy fighting game pummeled together RPG elements and a diverse roster that let players duke it out against each other or take on a quest against the Devil King, Venum! I love this game. The idea that you choose one of 7 characters competing for the same goal (and you have to fight the characters you don't choose periodically) is a good concept. I think a lot of people played this only because the title starts with a number so it shows up first on ROM site lists.

A new banner as well. Ogre Run is a blog where I write about JRPGs and otaku culture. If I had to recommend new readers one sole piece to read, well, it'd have to be my article on Gunparade March, Alfa System's RPG/war game/dating-sim sequel to Elemental Gearbolt: ogrerun.com/2025/11/29/g...
