bill@wiremu.bsky.social · last wk.the amount of gear he's got is possibly putting potential rides off, but i'd say the fact he's māori is probably more the case. i've struck this before, seen tourists get picked up but tangata whenua, no. thing is, last time i hitched up north my rides were over 50% māori.
there's been a homeless guy with a bunch of gear he's pushed in a shopping trolley from nelson/whakatū to hira (20km) trying to get a lift to picton to the ferry. he's been sleeping in a shed at the back of a garage and sitting on the side of the road during the day hoping for a lift. 1/2

solar panels have seen a significant drop in price over a relatively short period . soon ppl will put them out on the kerb with signs 'free panels' like they do with feijoas and that's when i'll make my move
power bill just landed. $135 for the month. zero solar. zero gas. firewood consumption around 3/4 of a wheelbarrow per day.
