Disabled people deserve housing, healthcare, food and assistance. They deserve a living wage. They shouldn’t be forced to beg for scraps, barred from having assets or forced to re-justify their disability over and over. When basic needs are denied, people die. It’s passive eugenics.

Healthcare workers are not only allowed to suggest it, many are encouraged to bring it up. You can (and will) get asked if you’ve considered Assisted Death and organ donation. You don’t have to be terminal. You don’t have to have expressed a desire to die. Being disabled is “enough”

I want people to sit with that. When MAiD was only available to the terminally ill, it was against the law for a healthcare worker to proactively suggest it. The patient had to initiate the discussion. When the program expanded to include people with disabilities, that safeguard vanished.

“If you were really offered MAiD (medical assistance in dying) you should report it and file a lawsuit”. This is how people respond when disabled folks tell them they’ve been coerced towards assisted dying. It is NOT illegal to suggest it to us. It’s not against hospital rules. It’s encouraged.
