(He/They) 34. Sometimes draws big things. 18+. NO MINORS.
Again, a reminder that a mere 35 years ago, a Republican POTUS led a broad international coalition, under United Nations auspices, to reverse the illegal & unprovoked violation of the territorial sovereignty & the seizure of the oil resources of another country.

I’ve had a hard time keeping track of all the Awful Things happening in the US lately but unfortunately there are 🟥FOUR🟥 anti-privacy bills up for vote this Wednesday in the senate again, including KOSA. Please take a moment to write or call your senators today.
While the SCREEN Act failed in the committee, KOSA did move forward. Contact your senators immediately demanding it be opposed, and keep the pressure up until it comes to a vote in the Senate
The Senate Commerce Committee just passed KOSA out of committee with zero debate & failed to move the SCREEN Act. punchbowl.news/article/tech...
Dozens of gas-burning power plants are being built across the country, solely to power data centers. These plants could emit as much planet-warming pollution as half of all passenger vehicles in the entire country in a single YEAR. We need a data center moratorium — now.
‼️ALERT: KOSA is moving next week to the Senate Commerce Committee for markup! Call your reps today, again tomorrow, and all weekend leaving messages opposing this dangerous censorship bill. www.badinternetbills.com

SCREEN Act, which would have required mandatory age-verification for sites (like this) that allow "material harmful to minors" failed to pass out of committee after thousands and thousands of people called their Senators. More work ahead!
AI companies scraping websites at scale is a real problem. But a proposed NY law could make it harder for libraries, journalists & researchers to preserve the web and investigate the powerful. That's why we've joined @eff.org & others in a letter to Gov. Hochul. blog.archive.org/2026/08/04/i...

My long-standing theory (and resentment) about CGI is that its rapid adoption was specifically boosted by a deluded belief that it would accomplish what AI-boosters dream about: the elimination of illustrative animation labor for a system that can be piloted by now-deskilled workers.
Pixar co-founder and former Disney Animation president Ed Catmull will judge a new generative AI film competition. The organization is promoting him as “the man who invented 3D graphics” who will judge “the first generation of AI filmmakers.” www.cartoonbrew.com/artificial-i...

The SCREEN Act just failed to pass in the Senate Commerce Committee! 🎉 Enormous thanks to the thousands (!!) of you who told your Senators to vote no! Your voice matters and you should feel good that you made a difference. Obviously, the fight isn't over, but this was an important victory.

They think we're lying about not using it and just too "ashamed" to admit it. The idea that no, I do not in fact use AI for any of the things I do baffles them. If AI disappeared tomorrow, my life would get easier because I wouldn't have to constantly be watching for it's sneaky inclusion.
Guys like this don’t realize that they are the freak
If SCREEN were to pass, you'd be required to scan your face and upload an ID to access this site because it allows "harmful" material. This affects you even if you don't care about sex work or porn.
Mike Lee's SCREEN Act, which heads to Senate Commerce Committee for markup on Wednesday, would expand age verification requirements to a nearly limitless scope of websites, and is supported by the architects of Project 2025.

What can you do? CALL. WRITE. SCREAM. The bill is up for a vote THIS WEDNESDAY. Call your Senator. Dem. Republican. Whomever. Right now, it's a solid R bill, but they're looking for Dems to take it across the finish line. Let them know how badly it stinks. www.defendonlineprivacy.com/screen/

The SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.
Expand the platform. By all means. Sure. But remember just one thing: The main selling point of Bluesky, is that it is not Twitter. DON'T. TRY. MAKING. BLUESKY. INTO. TWITTER. We don't want Twitter. That's why we are here!
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
To be clear: Senate Republicans are caving on a deal that gives Donald Trump and his family immunity from tax audits potentially worth $100 million.

Watergate was a harmless prank, in terms of the scale of illegality & constitutional violations, compared to this. Again, this is the most basic "do we live under a functioning constitutional order?" type of stuff. The answer, sadly, is no, because this hasn't immediately ended his presidency.

Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
This is the end result of "there are no sfw kinks" logic. Everything is a kink for someone. It doesn't matter how tame or innocuous it is; someone, somewhere, gets off to it. Amd there is no level of "toning it down" that will ever be acceptable to people whose goal is for you to not exist at all.
