petitions.senedd.wales/petitions/24... Up to now, Wales has fortunately rejected calls for appalling badger culls. Please sign this petition against Reform (& possibly Plaid) proposal for pointless, cruel badger cull.

Petition: We call upon the Senedd to reject any badger cull in Wales.

England has slaughtered ¼ million badgers but STILL has a higher incidence of cattle TB breakdowns than Wales. Both countries have achieved reductions on all key metrics, but in Wales without any badger culling. Almost 95% of Welsh herds are officially TB-free, close to the lowest level in two decades . This is a cattle disease and cattle measures have been effective in both countries. There is NO scientific evidence to show that badger culling has played any part in reductions in England.

Went to Spike Island for the first time ever today to get a feel for the location. Very different to how I'd imagined it - which means a bit of a re-write of part of the current work in progress 🙄 Birds seen included mute swans with 8 cygnets, shelducks & ducklings, redshanks, swallows, etc.

Sad to see trees at Festival Gardens struggling due to heat stress and drought; and the liner in the largest pond has leaked for years, but now even the smaller ponds and the streams have dried up. 🤞 for some rain soon.

Perennial sow-thistle (large yellow flowers, green stems and leaves) with a couple of bees on the flowers. A line of trees showing yellowing, dying leaves due to heat stress; the grass in front is almost white. The largest pond is now totally empty, just the liner and some pebbles remain, with trees behind. What looks like a twiggy path with trees on either side but is/was actually a stream.

Carrion crows (Corvus corone) are estimated to have the reasoning ability of a 7 year-old human. They understand quantities up to 30, have a concept of zero, understand probabilities, can identify geometric regularity. But it's using CROSS-WALKS that really impresses me. (📷: Russell's Rescue)

Sat in the shade on the #allotment, then popped to a local church summer fair, where the highlights for me were the three peregrines watching over the festivities, then had a very quiet walk around Festival Gardens - probably because no one else was daft enough to be out at midday 🌞 🥵
