tailwind is a framework for creating the problem you are trying to solve; but now the styles are also incomprehensible
Findings from this week's UN report on AI vs climate: 🌿 80-90% is not in training models, but in day-to-day use. 🌿 Generating an image is 1450⨉ more energy intensive than text, generating video much worse. 🌿 We need to monitor water and land footprint, as well as carbon. unu.edu/inweh/news/e...
Rising Emissions, Depleting Water and Vanishing Land—UN Scientists: AI Is Threatening Natural Resources for Billions
By 2030, AI's water use will match the needs of 1.3 billion people while its power use triples that of 650 million, UN University investigation warns

I've written detailed walkthroughs of two big things landing in Hanami 3.0. Mailers: discourse.hanakai.org/t/previewing... And i18n: discourse.hanakai.org/t/previewing... We'll be shipping a release candidate in a week or two. Keen for any feedback now, let's make these as solid as possible!
Previewing mailers in Hanami 3.0
Our Hanami 3.0 release is coming soon (a release candidate in a matter of weeks), and one of the big new features is a rebuilt hanami-mailer gem. Here I’ll outline how mailers will integrate into Han...

"I’m unsure how we can turn things around. But it seems clear that the answer to having too little humanness on the Web isn’t to have less of it and shut down our websites. [..] If you run a personal website, don’t get discouraged, keep it up. And if you don’t run a website, then why not start one?"
Websites Are Not Going to Die: AI search feels like a threat to the open Web, but the future of the Web does not depend on select large players.

Super stoked for the new Lucky v1.5.0 release! Finally got it out and it's a huge weight off my chest. Also, the new Bun integration by default is so slick. Love it ❤️ Thanks @wout.codes 🙌
fuck sam altman forever for taking away the last places where we could engage in good faith: the creative arts, which should be a testament to human ingenuity. i am so mad that everything i read or listen to or admire is now tainted with doubt. do you understand? he is a thief of joy and i HATE HIM
It has been quiet on the outside, but quite busy on the inside here at Fluck. We wrote up where things actually stand: the foundations, the roadmap, when beta opens: fluck.site/blog/where-w...
Where we are
A catch-up after a few quiet months. The foundations are done, Fluck is properly registered and running, and the app itself is taking shape.

Just released BunBunBundle, a zero-dependency bundler for #Ruby apps based on... #Bun. Works with #Rails, #Hanami, or any other rack-based app. codeberg.org/w0u7/bun_bun...

The increasing number of LLM Bots (aka "AI Agents") creating PRs on GitHub is worrying. They are taking away time from open-source maintainers who are already time-strapped. But what's the best strategy to fight them? Block and report? Or demand endlessly complex tweaks to exhaust their resources?
Engaging in mental gymnastics to justify what's convenient but unevidenced, unjust but personally beneficial, 'rewires your neural map' in ways that degrade your overall ability to understand and analyze the world around you, which is a precondition for intelligence and creativity.
the new (beta) @penpot.app renderer is such a huge improvement. snappier in a 100-tab browser window from hell than the Figma desktop app with a single file open. i know i keep saying this but if you design for the web and you haven't tried penpot you owe it to yourself to give it a whirl.
You can fundamentally rewire your brain to properly understand CSS layout... for $34.50. Can’t say fairer than that! One day left.
Oh I forgot to mention on here, Every Layout is doing the annual 50% discount too! every-layout.dev
Every Layout is a reference I use daily. Complete CSS was a great level-up. Mindful Design is priceless. Andy's work, and by extension the Piccalilli team, delivers knowledge that will be with you for the rest of your life, not just until the next framework appears. I can't recommend it enough.
A bit of a vulnerable post by me but we need your help to get us through what has been a more difficult period than 2020. It would be really appreciated if you could read and share in your networks too 💛 bell.bz/its-been-a-v...
spending over a decade getting pretty good at doing "generative things" only to land in the decade of generative slop is ... not ideal
Just in from #Adobe: “Your Creative Cloud Pro subscription will increase from €29.99 to €65.54 starting next month.” Just so they can push more AI crap on us I suppose? That's insane! Happy to finally pull the plug there.

Built with CUBE CSS, Every Layout and stuff learned in Complete CSS. It’s of course, lightning fast and the UI works with the browser. I love to see it. https://fluck.site/
For the past months I've been working on @fluck.site and finally I have something to show for it. Fluck is going to be open sourced in 2026. #indieweb

Just released Rosetta v1.0.0, an #i18n shard for #CrystalLang, about four years after its inception. Aside from a some QoL improvements it now also supports key nesting, a feature that was on the wishlist for a very long time. github.com/wout/rosetta

Worrying to see that so much of our internet, including critical infrastructure, is dependent on AWS. I get that cloud services are easier to maintain for global projects, but this level of concentration risk isn't healthy.
PSA: we're aware that Signal is down for some people. This appears to be related to a major AWS outage. Stand by.
