Stranding people after a night out or working, some of whom may be vulnerable, is no way to promote London as a safe, friendly centre of entertainment. I was fortunately out in Clapham and had no issues.

For the past 2 years I’ve spent NYE at halfway (and why not!) and we’ve had no problem getting a train/tube onto somewhere from Charing Cross at 1am when halfway closes. Tonight was sheer chaos and every tube and mainline station in a 1 mile radius was like Fort Knox letting no one in!
