Myopic obsession of some in the left with Nordic countries ignores how these welfare states are built on intense nationalism & growing anti migrant racism. Sweden's new legislation includes longer residency period, higher income thresholds, and mandatory language and civic knowledge tests.

I know it’s apparently only salient to most American media outlets to talk about oil, but for the few remaining people left with a soul, thousands of people live on this tiny island in only 8 sq miles. This reads like a serial killer prison interview.

After days of conflicting messaging from the White House on how much longer it will continue to wage war on Iran, Trump alleged that US strikes had "totally demolished" most of Kharg Island, and told the network that its military may hit site "a few more times just for fun"

The US is at war and repression at home is going to get worse. I'm old enough to remember during the Iraq war the FBI infiltrating quaker meetings and vegan potlucks and cracking down on anti-war groups and outspoken Muslim leaders. The US surveillance state has grown exponentially since then. 🧵

“Hoarders is, at heart, a morality play. Its subjects are punished for what the viewer recognizes is a profound, if unspoken, sin…The hoarded home is nothing other than moral disorder freed of all restraint.” i used to judge those on the screen while relapsing into my own addiction

"To be poor in the United States is exceptional in that, thanks to the efforts of the good people of Dhaka and Juarez and Shenzhen, you can die in any of these ways at the very same time as you accumulate an immense volume of stuff." My latest for @thenewinquiry.com.web.brid.gy

Important context to "more/better training" arguments: the murder of Renée Good was a product of that training by someone who has trained others. (I've seen same in civil rights cases; by moving where he did, he was intentionally generating a pretext to shoot her without genuine risk to himself.)

Post nicht verfügbar.

If the murder of Renee Nicole Good makes you say “abolish ICE,” but the murder of George Floyd didn’t make you say “abolish cops,” ask yourself why and try to learn from it

"They begin by locking undocumented children in cages and end by locking your children in cages and the worst thing is that if we don't stand up to them today, we will deserve it when it happens to us. IT'S UP TO US."

crimethinc.com/mercenaries To keep Donald Trump’s voter base entertained with spectacles of predatory violence, ICE recruiters are offering bribes to seduce gullible individuals into doing harm to their neighbors. To counter this, we have prepared a video and poster campaign of our own.
