For anyone who tells you the Moda Center is this huge economic engine… no, it isn’t. Not at the scale that Wilson and other leaders keep claiming. It would take many decades to see break-even economic returns, let alone actual gain after pouring hundreds of millions into a renovation.

Nearly half of that is player salaries, i.e. far less relevant. In reality, the Rose Quarter generates ~$18M in tax revenue each year, some of which is put back into the stadiums.

I’ll write more later, but this is the defining Lindsey Graham moment for me. Screaming into a mic to defend a Republican Supreme Court nominee against allegations of sexual assault, all in the hopes that Mister Trump would watch on TV and tweet something nice about him. That’s Graham’s legacy.
