El Niño will cause so much extreme weather and damage because it is coming *on top of* decades of heat-trapping pollution that is now causing warming to accelerate. The problem isn't El Niño. The problem is pollution, and the fossil fuel industry and elected leaders that refuse to stop it.

A flesh-eating bacteria that only needs warm salt water, in an ocean that used to be too cold for it. Ten cases a year on this coast in the late eighties. Eighty by 2018.
