Every time I share photos of fireflies in my backyard, I get folks lamenting not seeing fireflies anymore. If this is you, depending on where you live, you can get more fireflies! About 1/3 of our NA species are threatened, but it's pretty easy to help them out especially in these areas. Here's how:

If you don’t have any influence (and even if you do), talk to your community members nicely and yell at your lawmakers about dark sky initiatives, habitat protection, and flipping off yard pesticide treatments! - Fireflies need habitat! When applicable and when able: mow less, leave taller vegetation, plant native plants, leave “messy” areas with leaf litter, sticks, logs. Firefly larvae need moist areas to hunt and live in for up to two years before becoming adults. - Reduce or discontinue outdoor lights at night! Discontinue decorative and accent lighting; use timers, dimmers, or motion activated lights. Turn lights off when you aren’t using them. Fight for dark sky initiatives locally and ways to reduce light pollution. - Don’t use pesticides, eliminate lawn treatments, including grub killing treatments (fireflies spend their first stage of life on/in the ground). Mosquito lawn treatment companies are scams that do more harm than they do mosquito killing. Stop Touching Grass with this nasty stuff. Just been informed that 3D model tracing is now allowed for artfight attacks! Bases are different from 3D models so rule 5 had me a bit confused. Appreciate folks chatting about it :) Please enjoy artfight and art as a whole guys 💖
