I’m really angry tonight. A friend who apparently only performatively supportive of trans rights has a kid who they are suppressing and refusing to call by their preferred name and pronouns. It’s dangerous and my heart breaks for their kid who just wants acceptance, love, etc.

Removing buckthorn and adding oaks in our back wooded area has been a big job but I am thrilled with the outcome. The forest floor is back. Wish I could do my neighbor's woods too (have offered) as there will be pressure into our area but that's manageable. Been an intense couple of years.

I have some steep areas here and I've piled up sticks like this and then backfilled it to create a stepped path which has been really nice to leave more biological material on side and be functional. I know some people build fences and things, too.

Bee balm, purple cone flowers, goldenrod, etc. Exact plants I was going to buy! Meanwhile, we dragged sticks to one spot for easier hauling to city's mulching site, then decided we like what we made.🌱
One of the funny things is watching technology executives at companies that are built on open source run immediately to walled gardens like Anthropic and build out all sorts of proprietary things for them with zero self reflection on what they are doing.
If you are out there and you aren't sure about gardening #nativeplants then remember that you don't need it to be perfect at the start. Just do a bit of research for your zone, start somewhere and enjoy the journey. You can move most plants around, restart or split plants to fill in later. Learn!
