this sounds and looks insane but i actually really really like "just stab it" as a killswitch

By the first sunset, we will have Chester Cheetah, Charles Cheese, and the so-called Colonel in chains. Their public execution will dissuade several of the others from challenging the new order. Terrorist resistance will be expected from the Noid and Kool-Aid Man, but it will be short-lived.

one of the things from Neuromancer that seemed especially ludicrous but now seems increasingly likely: Chinese black market AI-powered hacking software will have graphics that look like a cool shark.

I think there's a secret reason people are latching on to our compact king, Jimothy. All the usual cute meme animal reasons are there; small, soft, unique, etc. But, I also think it's because we know Jimothy is doomed.

Hyperfocus of the week I guess! I sat and figured out a skeleton. I opted to give it more endoskeleton vs exoskeleton, since a goat sized creature likely would struggle without the support (?) It also doesn't have actual eye sockets because bug eyes sit on the flesh/carapace. #sciart #creatures

A skeleton of a weird goat cicada hybrid

Someone was asking which animal to mix with a cicada for the most annoying loud sounds. I suggested a goat...then of course I drew it. Mammals and insects don't mix well 😅💀 #creatureart #creaturedesign #conceptart #goat #cicada #weirdart

A strange hybrid of a goat and a cicada

Since they've all badly misread Snowcrash, why haven't any of our deranged oligarchs tried to create a pirate utopia on a repurposed cargo ship? Yacht smacht. Spend that 100 mil on a boat the size of a suburb and build yourself a damn castle on it.

*This interesting process of "un-wonderment" doesn't get enough attention from science fiction critics *"The sense of wonder has a short shelf-life," yes it does, but what are the actual processes of that decay *How to effectively write about that

Packaging LLMs as first-person chatbots was entirely a product decision. There is no need, and no innocent reason, to make a fake persona the interface for a hyper-dimensional language crystal. Whatever utility they do have is deliberately obscured by pretending they're an entity.

AI has been foisted upon us, for sure, but one reason it lands with so many is that LLMs *feel like* a solution for loneliness/estrangement/isolation: People who crave feedback and iteration but lack the courage or social capital to get it. Showing a first draft to someone is exposure. /1
