(And I'm sure I've done the same - the point is that it's easy to slide in this direction inadvertently.)

I don't want to read too much into minor linguistic choices, but even the tendency to refer to AIPAC, a specific and singular entity, as "they" or "them," instead of "it," captures a bit of that toxic conspiracism. Let's not go down this road.

AIPAC is bad, it supports a lot of bad candidates, its electioneering is often sketchy. No argument there. It also hasn't been particularly successful in achieving the outcomes it wants, and its transformation into the omni-villain of left-wing politics has obvious, disturbing historic echoes.

Once again I'll reiterate that the way AIPAC has been transformed into this creeping villain behind every unwanted election result is feeding a resurgence of antisemitism, and that goes triple if the winner is Jewish and was opposed by AIPAC. Please please think about your words here!

Trump, Netanyahu’s Gov & Hamas can’t be trusted. I wish for peace for the sake of all the innocents. But I’m not hopeful. Trump said he wouldn’t allow Israel to annex the WB, Israel is doing so right now. Trump has no influence over Netanyahu or Hamas, he’ll lose interest if it isn’t easy.

Reuters: After Trump trumpeted that he had arranged a “historic” phased disarmament agreement with Hamas, Hamas shot it down, saying the alleged agreement was merely a draft, and Hamas would not disarm til Israel withdrew from Gaza. But the Israelis plan to rule Gaza in perpetuity. It’s no deal.

Are Israel or Hamas aware of this deal?
