The only explanation I have is demons. The shower is broken giving hot/cold water no matter how the lever is positioned. Once it gives hot water, it only gives hot water, even lever turned nearly to OFF. We found that putting the lever at 10-11 o'clock give the hot temp we're mostly comfy with.
