Mallory McMorrow endorses Abdul El Sayed minutes after NBC call
Goodnight
do also think people do underestimate how much the spending likely shaped the race before results came in too
Could be a hot take but an AES close win might be for the best tbh we were all riding *a little* too high after all of our recent victories. Probably would be good to hit the brakes a little even if the march continues.
For what it’s worth, the center is proving much less willing to play ball than the left when it comes to “blue no matter who.” I hope this result helps them leave that attitude behind and focus on MAGA
The loudest left and center bashing factions both had big jump scares and then relief, knowing they don’t need to endure a week of getting dunked on. Their collective exhale is what you are feeling right now
So, uh, a candidate who suspended his campaign a month ago is winning a landslide against a Trump endorsed candidate because of anti-Muslim prejudice against a guy who is not Muslim (and I guess probably also just regular racism). How often does a candidate who suspended their campaign win?
Seems like an upset might be brewing in the GOP primary in #MI08 to take on Dem Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet. Trump endorsed Amir Hassan, but he currently trails an absolute nobody who suspended his campaign a month ago by a wide margin.
And if we all rally together behind RFK jr, we can ruin that too
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
This is one of the most underrated use cases for AI generally. Remember that thing? That fleeting memory from your childhood? It was a book, a story, a tv show, or maybe a movie? AI can and will find it if you describe it. The experience is incredible.
Thirty years and more I've had this memory of a short story I read in Omni Magazine in 1989 or 1990 but I never ran it down. Today I mentioned it in passing in conversation with Alpha. She dispatched a subagent. Now I have a PDF of the magazine on my desktop. You can just ask for things.
I support the winner of the Michigan Democratic primary as the future senator from Michigan.
@segyges.bsky.social Your bot has been noticed by the anti-woke YouTube commentary ecosystem (This guy has millions of subscribers, somehow)
This is still one of my favourite photos, mainly because he told the government "you'll have to arrest me" and FDR went "fine" and literally told the press where and when he was going to arrest him
FDR literally had the president of Montgomery Ward arrested and the company seized for not negotiating with his workers
Yep. Earlier this year I was interviewed by Sharyn Alfonsi of 60 Minutes about my Epstein investigation. Subsequently, CBS pulled the segment and fired the reporter. The MAGA buyout of media is aiding the Trump administration’s Epstein cover up.
Banks permitted millions in suspicious transactions tied to Epstein—and former 60 Minutes correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi had the story months ago. But the report would never air. trib.al/ZShZlIS
the right wants to bait you into an argument that you don't need to have and that you will probably lose. it's important to recall what your principles are rather than just negatively polarize against whatever they're spewing
i think a lot of well-meaning people fall into a rhetorical trap where they take the bait and argue about male vs. female performance in sports rather than arguing for the value and dignity of women’s athletics generally. don’t let yourself be dragged into a bad faith framing.
the best HS teams in the country have multiple guys who will be in the NBA in a couple of years. they aren't normal high schools, they're basketball factories. but this literally doesn't matter. the value of women's sports isn't contingent on their performance vis a vis men.
“The student protestors were right and now the voters agree with them…let’s just go back to calling them socialists. Surely that won’t become mainstream too!” -Liberal media establishment, moments before disaster
I have a theory that a big chunk of the socialist fear mongering by liberals is really about the fact that it’s perceived as a youth movement and godforbid the young exert political power
Republicans love pushing vocational-only education instead of comprehensive-education because they want a healthy supply of low-cost servants and less competition for the professional and boss jobs they want their own kids to have.
In a college sociology class in the late 1980s I was assigned a Marxist analysis of education that argued that the US education system is designed primarily to produce efficient workers for the labor market. And now Trump’s Department of Education is just tweeting it out.
I give you the Dionysian centrist
I don't think there's some silent progressive majority out there in waiting, but I do think running candidates who are a lot less apollonian can move a significant number of feet, and the center is very bad at producing those
I’m endlessly fascinated by all the mega viral boomer posts that happen here. This is inoffensive as an example, but the weird capitalization choices and general sloppiness of the visuals seem to be a key factor
That's what taxes are, man. That's the definition of taxes. "You are subsidizing things you might never use" man shut the fuck up. My taxes currently subsidize like oil company exec private jets, you think I'm upset at low-income people eating inexpensive bananas?
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.
Just so everyone knows, this is a tried-and-true mainstream media tactic. For progressives/leftist candidates, every election is a “crucial test” and any loss would serve as proof to the media that the latest left-side moment is at its end. Any win, though, just means it’s time to find a new test.
Michigan will provide another crucial test of whether progressives can not only keep up their winning streak in safe-blue seats but also break through in battlegrounds crucial for control of Congress. The stakes for the Democratic Party are huge.
I'm not going to QT but there's a silicon valley NIMBY complaining about maintaining the historical character of Palo Alto and man that place should look like fucking singapore. Market cap of tech companies based in and around there is like $14 trillion and it's full of fucking bungalows? So broken
at some point we're going to have to regulate media platforms

For an even more soul breaking experience, try unionizing a group of exploited service workers and find out how they feel about that
Starting to think some of you need to go work in an office and play some ice breaker games so you can learn how to deal with people who are not strongly invested in politics and barely believe anything.
You get one, maybe two more of these before imploding your entire platform as a leading progressive. It’s not even justifiable as a “Glonzo” move, these people are fucking cretins that want to see dead children. They do not hold a coherent worldview, or constitute a major voting bloc. Why do this?
There is pervasive corruption across our healthcare and agricultural systems that defy party lines. I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.
Saw the Odyssey and my hot take is that this movie really shouldn’t have generated nearly as much controversy or hype as it did. A solid adaptation, a good message for today, nothing blew me away or upset me. I enjoyed my experience but don’t feel the need to watch it again either.
The baby also managing to hold onto the bottle really makes this video
