sometimes people are like Well which of the two ways of non-binary are we talking about. And well, you see, that's the thing,

I wonder if all the coked-up Gordon Gecko-alikes back in the eighties sounded like this about their lunchtime eightball
I have one answer.
As an editor, author, and HWA chapter secretary, I condemn the decision to publish this piece in the strongest terms. As someone personally offended by this piece's line of thinking, to say nothing of its artlessness, I have to question whatever is going on with that newsletter. This is ... 4/?
And it really sucks as someone who loves technology, but I've had to stop myself engaging with generative a.i. in any way other than research. Does it seem cool? Yep. Is it actually cool? Nope. Could it be cool? Maybe. But the powers-that-be would much rather make it The Torment Nexus than good.
If you're interested in this, reach out! Right now I'm looking for things made with/for RUNE or Slayers (dragon included), or things using the LUMEN system.
One thing I'm trying with Gila this year is doing print publishing for other designers who work with my games or systems. WYRD, by @sasquatchgames.bsky.social has been a huge success! We've sold over 200 copies on my store, retailers, and conventions. gilarpgs.com/products/wyrd
The art of UI design is over forty years old and we haven't learned a single damn thing.
it’s crazy how so much of the right wing cultural push is just ‘let’s all pretend we never learned how bad/complex all this stuff is and go back to the way things were when we were ignorant’ ngl I get why it’s powerful messaging but it really is the death of knowledge/growth/expertise
I'm calling it: "Start smoking" is going to be mainstream MAHA / Republican health advice by 2028. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
Okay, so: 1) ATJ is right and I'm glad she said this, and but also 2) I'm a little sad "method acting" has become synonymous with this kind of douchenozzlery because of the most annoying practitioners of it 1/
anya taylor-joy says women don't method act because we have things to take care of and can't lose our minds or be assholes

I love that people-with their full chest-without a single ounce of shame-will log onto the internet and say in full unbridled confidence "I don't know how bananas work"
Spoken like a man who has never had to shop for himself.
Since people seem interested, I've coded a version of this that yields better results, is more optimized, and allows you to customize the texture of the noise. It's free, and forever will be free. Enjoy! chaoclypse.itch.io/xerox-hell
I coded a web app that xerox's your images for fun! Just drag an image in and play with the dials. If nothing shows up (or it's all black) you may want to play with the threshold (first slider). Press "S" to save the image! editor.p5js.org/Chaoclypse/f...

Undoing the work of the Suck Fairy is an underrated motivation for all kinds of creative arts
I love that the reasoning for this was that when dudes at HB rewatched the OG series. They remembered it being so much cooler and then just decided to make it real.
In 1986, contracting HIV meant you were going to die, usually slowly, painfully, and alone. Now it's a chronic illness like hypertension. In 1986, gay and lesbian couples couldn't have their relationships legally recognized and had to adopt elaborate legal workarounds.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
We shouldn't be surprised that a lump of fat and water pretending to be a high performance compute system is basically jerking from one reaction to another in the face of the immense amount of incoming data the world presents. Fact that brains can perform things which appear rational is a miracle.
LORD, WHAT CAN THE HARVEST HOPE FOR, IF NOT FOR THE CARE OF THE REAPER MAN?
Have to admit I was not prepared for how utterly vile this excerpt is.
I want to highlight this part of her rant because it's incredibly dismissive of Indigenous communities' centuries-long fight against environmental racism. While nothing in her article (if I can call it that) demonstrates mature, acceptable behavior, this part is the most egregious.
Was awake before my alarm today and decided to just roll with it, is this how the neurotypicals do things am I onto something
It is worth noting that the writer of that HWA newsletter telling people to embrace AI, has an AI based coaching app they are selling
On Saturday, my partner and I are tieing the knot (literally) and as part of our handfasting we are trying to raise money for a local wildlife charity. What Cuan do is fantastic, so it would be wonderful to help support their work! www.justgiving.com/page/amy-cal... #wildlife #wedding #charity

Did you know, I ALSO do character sheets? It's true! (and also badges/crests, page elements and some layout as well). I am VERY open to commissions right now, so if anyone needs anything along those lines, drop me a message to saga.mackenzie.art@gmail.com or sagamack on discord!

Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
Taking my mood pills with a whiskey and triple sec, I'm sure that's fine
If anyone describes your negative reaction to AI as being "Luddite" please note the correct response is, "You're right I'm a fucking Luddite. Sign me as Ned Ludd."
My meta would've been 49 today. Almost four years later, his absence is still an ache. But we keep his memory alive. And love endures.
I confess that it makes me a little sad how the replies to this are a litany of books people hated after having them assigned. I don't think we should avoid asking students to read difficult or not-fun books. But Ursula is 100% right here: why is that the whole of every list?
I swear to God, part of the problem of literacy is that we make kids read SO MANY books like this. Of course they’re going to associate reading with misery! We put them in a Skinner box and shock them when they read, what did people THINK would happen?

Having ranted about school curriculum books, I’ve just seen my son’s summer reading list, and all I can say is “I was right”. A more depressing collection would be tricky to assemble. Are we actively trying to convey to kids the idea that reading is dismal and arduous?
I'm reminded of an important piece of advice I got from another comedian when I was just starting out: Never take advice from another comedian when you're just starting out. It all ends up "you'd be better if you were more like me".
