We shouldn't be surprised that a lump of fat and water pretending to be a high performance compute system is basically jerking from one reaction to another in the face of the immense amount of incoming data the world presents. Fact that brains can perform things which appear rational is a miracle.
The people of Earth cannot make any claims to being civilised while they murder each other over religious beliefs based on broadly similar dogma and origins.
There's no ethical way to use the current crop of LLMs. They stole your IP to train them. They're burning your planet to run them. They're stealing your money to fund them. They're killing your friends to avoid controlling them.
I think this totally fair, but in exchange I want a personal thank you letter from Clarkson for the £250,000 that his farm got from government subsidies that come from my tax money. I don't want a form letter, I want him to write it like he means it.

I guess 2024/25 were low mood years, found photographs of events that I just haven't dealt with like 2024 Cromford Steam Rally and 2025 Notts Carnival.
Once again, mother-in-law has used the Amazon Echo 'Help' feature to call us when she needed us. It just rings our number and she can talk to us, even if she's no-where near her phone. It's a superb feature. I wish it wasn't part of a piece of technology owned by a billionaire arsehole.

We used to ask, can it beat the Turing test. We should have asked, how long does society have left when AI can beat the Turing test even though it's just a powerful word guessing system but people treat it like a marriage counselor?

If I have a real political ideology it's that society must be designed not for "productivity" but to give as many people as possible the opportunity to live according to their actual interests and talents, so I can't begin to describe how much this sickens and enrages me.
