Unvergesslich! 🌩️

Something exciting that I'm currently working on is adding vertical cross-sections to the ESSL Radar Displayer. And one of the more interesting phenomena that I've seen in them is debris fallout from the tops of storms with violent tornadoes. Here is an example of precisely 4 years ago today:
This was one of the most intense chasings in Europe I've ever had 🌪️⛈️ An absolute beast of a supercell in northern Italy back in August 2020.
I am so thrilled about our new storm chasing project @ConvAction ! Collab between Sturmjäger NRW, @Team_B_L and more Amazing things will come! Trailer video in the comments 👇🏼
Currently working on a very exciting project! Stay tuned for what is about be released on friday… 👀
I encourage you to take a look at the most amazing chase @sturmkatze.bsky.social, Jerome and I ever had in Germany 🌪️🌪️🌪️ English subtitles are available now 💪🏼 youtu.be/q1b4AXaw5e8?...

Two years ago I barely knew anything about storm chasing and meteorlogy. A few weeks ago Jerome and @aaron-stormchase.bsky.social from Sturmjäger NRW and I threw in all our knowledge and experience to make a dreamlike storm chase come true. This is how we did it: m.youtube.com/watch?v=q1b4...

Tight rotation with this one in E France!
Complex conditions for pot. #severeweather in S-Germany/Austria/Czech Republic. First "loaded gun” -> long-track supercells? -> giant hail? Later Bow Echo? -> destructive gusts? But unclear balancing of Cold Pool Boundary/Rear Inflow Jet and easterly inflow at the northern fringe of the lee low.
On saturday even the backside of some storms was looking great :)
Thank you for your kind words! 😊 You did a fantastic navigating job! I couldn't have done it any better 🙌🏼👍🏼
It was a great day, indeed! I am grateful for being able to share my passion with such an experienced storm chaser ^^
That was an amazing chase day with @sturmkatze.bsky.social on Saturday! Check out the time lapse of the meso dumping downpours right next to it in the comments!
And the next chase today with @sturmkatze.bsky.social 😃 All images taken west and north of Bonn, Germany. Strong outflow broke large branches off of trees.
The time lapse of the tornado near the town of Theres, BY, Germany is ready! Notice the subvortices and the vort max to the right of the tornado merging with it at the end. What a chase day! Is still can't believe it 🎉🌪️
Yesterday I teamed up with @aaron-stormchase.bsky.social and Jerome from Sturmjäger NRW for a storm chase in northern Bavaria. Non of us could have imagined that we see such an incredible multivortex tornado…
Impressive forecast soundings for tomorrow. Low LCLs and in a strip from RLP over HE to NW Bavaria CAPE, LLS and DLS overlap. This ICON-D2 sounding is between Gießen and Frankfurt. Notice the amount of streamwise vorticity in the lowest 500 m! Source: @kachelmannwetter.com
On this day 7 years ago a textbook supercell moved slowly over the plains in southern Kansas ⛈️🌪️
Neues Update für unsere Webseite! Ab sofort steht auch das ICON-EU für die Mittelfrist zur Verfügung. Darüber hinaus gab es Updates bei den Radiosonden und den Dopplerradaren.
Some convective interest today in parts of N + central Germany in moderately strong upper westerly flow atop an upper ridge. Not a lot of forcing, but shear looks to be strong enough for a few organised storms including large(r) hail + strong gusts. #weather #stormhour @aaron-stormchase.bsky.social

One year and two days ago we chased this amazing tornadic supercell during a low CAPE - high shear setup in northern France.
Zoom in on the funnel cloud of a tornado between Geuda Springs and Arkansas City, KS back in May 2018.
So much of what I've learned in the last year about tornado (and hail!) forecasting from the perspective of a chaser can be summed up with this: You want the most CAPE with the least water.
Is anyone on that storm in Belgium? Strong and large velocity couplet and a lot of lightning. Quite rare to see a (possible) supercell in January.
