It has been increasingly disappointing to see him defend AI for a while now, both very tone deaf and unnecessary. But also his vibe coded games and sites. He has great ideas and the funds to hire people to (help) create them, rather he chose not to.

‘Expensive’ is such a great word for speech. In many situations I can make words work, but the energy cost can be catastrophic. Places with loud background music or other people talking nearby are good examples. Zoom meeting with audio lag etc.

As a tech creator, how do you expect me to: a) believe you have the knowledge b) respect your experience c) return for other videos When your tutorial or advice includes using AI to look things up. That is and should be your added value. If I didn't want to know something, I'd use AI myself.

Luckily, those higher up can't snuff out the awareness and intent of developers at every step before, during, and after development. Lots of people are aware of what can be done to make games more accessible, and I'm certain they'll keep doing what they can, no matter their job title or position.

Aside from the folly of wanting to reach a billion players daily, aiming to reach any substantial number of players means you also need to to include people with accessibility needs. A large and ever growing group. Any cuts in accessibility and user research shows it's not about the players at all.

Aside from the folly of wanting to reach a billion players daily, aiming to reach any substantial number of players means you also need to to include people with accessibility needs. A large and ever growing group. Any cuts in accessibility and user research shows it's not about the players at all.

Once again terrible news for the game industry. Our thoughts are with all those affected directly today and in the coming year. For disabled players it's particularly concerning to learn of layoffs among accessibility and user research roles, essential to ensure everyone can play (and win).
