Both my neurospicy deviations and the physical impact of cancer three decades on make speech expensive for me. In person? That works fine enough, if the surroundings are quiet enough. A phone? Difficult to hear and make myself clear. That's why I move most communication to email and text messaging.
‘Expensive’ is such a great word for speech. In many situations I can make words work, but the energy cost can be catastrophic. Places with loud background music or other people talking nearby are good examples. Zoom meeting with audio lag etc.

Luckily, those higher up can't snuff out the awareness and intent of developers at every step before, during, and after development. Lots of people are aware of what can be done to make games more accessible, and I'm certain they'll keep doing what they can, no matter their job title or position.
Aside from the folly of wanting to reach a billion players daily, aiming to reach any substantial number of players means you also need to to include people with accessibility needs. A large and ever growing group. Any cuts in accessibility and user research shows it's not about the players at all.
