I am not sure it takes an expert in Persian history to get that killing the chief executive and entire leadership of a ruling regime will make whoever survives thirst for revenge. Especially if the killed leader’s son then takes over.
It was clear from the get go that Trump did not and does not understand Iranian psychology.

Got to the part of the book where MacArthur’s literally fascist G-2 suppressed all the copious intelligence about the hundreds of thousands of Chinese troops who had crossed the border so his boss could make a lightning run to the Yalu and declare victory and was sickened.
