Bit of an overreaction to not being invited to house parties.

Sometimes I think I'm a pretty cool dad, and then I get an email from Mountain Warehouse and realise I'm the same as any other.
A part of me wishes I could get up early and write. The other part loves writing late at night. Reminds me of working night shifts and writing in my car at break time.
Today's listening: Dead Tired – Hornets of Fall Riffs for breakfast. I love Dead Tired. I love that the band members have other, more 'serious' projects, and this is a space for them to chat shit, drink whisky and smoke cigars more than they write songs. Plus, George Pettit's vocals are iconic.

“Reform will end ‘something for nothing’ Britain.” - Nigel Farage. He receives £98,599 a year as an MP, yet for more than three months this year he didn't cast a single parliamentary vote or make a single written contribution or speech in Parliament either. But yes, let’s shout at poor people
Finished my reread of Kiddar's Luck by Jack Common last night. A neglected masterpiece. A book that perfectly depicts the lives, struggles and humour of the North East working-class.
Today's listening: God's Hate – Won't Be Disgraced Surprise 3-track EP following their surprise set and Sound and Fury. Great cover of 'Warriors Will Reign' in honour of Bo Lueders, too.

Grey skies in Durham. An inner peace has been restored.
RIP BrooklynVegan. Devastating news, especially for the heavy/alternative music community.
Leor Galil@imleor.bsky.social · 2mo ago“Music publications BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have been gutted by parent company Veeps... Nearly all the staff at each publication appear to have been laid off yesterday. Veeps, which is now owned by Live Nation, acquired the publications in 2024 or 2025”
Really struggling to read anything while I’m editing the novel. Turned to rereads and non-fiction and I still can’t keep a decent rhythm. It’s a concentration thing, mainly, but also the usual soul-destroying realisation of inadequacy.
Half the planet is having a massive fight about how to correctly interpret an Ancient Greek poem but go ahead, close some more humanities departments.
To be fair, I thought Trump would try to lift the trophy for Spain.
Diego Maradona, Jorge Luis Borges, Eva Perón, Pope Francis, Adolf Eichmann, Josef Mengele, your boys took a hell of a beating.
Argentina couldn’t take the exact same they gave to England. Identical to their rugby team yesterday.
something utterly beautiful about the fact that the most hyped, gilded, oversold, VVIP’d football game of all time has been an absolute stinking turnip. sport will always find a way!
“So these are the best two teams in the competition?” “Yes” “And the two last night?” “Not as good” “Ok. Do you have, like, any other sports I might enjoy?”
